I'm not sure I can think of a starker contrast than that between Temple, Texas hookers and Davos, Switzerland hookers.
 
I don’t know all the details in the weeds in the hard science on this. And at least 99 out of 100 posters on these boards probably don’t either…. My sense from reading various things over the years is that greenhouse gases probably have some small effect on temperatures—causing them to rise slightly. But this runs counter to a larger, and much more powerful, trend of overall global cooling or inching towards another ice age.

It balances out somewhat, with a very slight rise in temps in the very short run, but with a much more noticeable decrease in temps over the mid term, and certainly over the long haul. But, I could be wrong…

CO2 does have a heating effect in the atmosphere. The relationship is logarithmic though, which means that as the concentration goes up the effect of the new CO2 is less and less. Then at some point there is no effect at all. We are close to the ceiling now. CO2 can only absorb a narrow spectrum of IR once all that IR radiation is absorbed, no more effect.

The absorption of outwelling radiation (acts as an insulation factor essentially) is also captured by water vapor and methane (which is mostly present due to biological processes). Thus, CO2 has a marginal effect by now.

Well that's good to know. I suppose this info doesn't seem to reach far beyond obscure scientific journals...

I saw a video that was made some time ago refuting the Algore statements about CO2 causing global warming. Basically it says there is scientific data that shows temp increasing and concurrently CO2 increases, however the CO2 increase happens 800 years after the temp increases. So when temps decrease the CO2 lag is also 800 years on average behind in decreasing. The point was that CO2 increase and decrease is a result of heating and cooling and not the other way around.
