Currently paying £345 per month, and bear in mind that my house isn't heated by electricity. Furthermore, the UK government spent almost the equivalent of its entire national health budget to supposedly hold down energy prices. It's a total **** show.

It was garbage to policy on top of garbage policy. They shouldn't have diminished their energy supplies to try to save the world, and they shouldn't have dumped a bunch of money into it to hold down prices. It worked like dumping federal money into higher education has held down tuition (meaning it has, if anything, made the problem worse). Might be the biggest waste of public money in the country's history.

Note a mix of 40% nuclear, 40% gas, and 20% renewable (hydro, wind and solar) is equivalent to 80% nuclear and 20% coal in terms of CO2 (basically an 80% reduction from 100% coal).
