'I Feel Duped on Climate Change'

I don't have much agreement with Greta Thunberg. She's a whiny brat who should have been spanked as a child. However, when she says that the West's political leaders are a bunch of hacks who don't actually give a crap about the issue but just blab platitudes to give the illusion that they care, she isn't wrong.
She’s too naive to know how the world works. Also, I hear the climate youth movement is subsidized by Putin.
I would be shocked if it didn't get money from both Russia and China. It's doing their work for them. It reminds me of the ExxonMobil counter-protest I got dragged to 20 years ago. I found out later that the idiots protesting ExxonMobil were actually paid to be there - not by the Greenpeace or some environmental group but by British Petroleum. The environmental angle was a ruse. The real purpose of the protest was for one oil company to crap on its competitor.

Lol. It was a general crackpot-fest. They bitched about oil spills, global warming (it wasn't called "climate change" back then), and that Exxon Mobil didn't provide domestic partnership benefits.

Nah. They had plenty of useful idiots in the US government. It's just that socialism doesn't work and their government collapsed. It will happen to China eventually.

China has them in the government, and not only that, they dominate the media, business, and academia. The USSR never had it like that.
It is almost as if...the climate has been in a state of flux for as long as there has been 'climate.'
Not sure if this is a story in the US, but it's a big story in the UK. A group called "Insulate Britain" is demanding that the government insulate every home in the UK (to fight climate change) and is blockading major roads and motorways until they do, including the M25, which is a big loop that goes around London. It would be like blockading LBJ in Dallas or Loop 610 in Houston - massively disruptive.
Obviously what these people are doing is illegal, and they eventually do get arrested. However, they're basically allowed to conduct the protests. The arrests don't happen for quite awhile, and like the BLM rioters, they often aren't being charged. Well, a mom trying to get her kid to school and herself to work pushed some protestors with her SUV to try to get them to move (after telling them to move), and of course, she is being charged. Link.
Though not exactly the same, this reminds me a little of the Rittenhouse case. It's not self-defense. However, because it's politically sympathetic to lawbreakers, the government refuses to enforce the laws and expects the public to just accept the burdens associated with the lawlessness. However, if someone tries to mitigate that burden, the government throws the book at her. It's sick and dangerous.

Well, I'm in Belton, and it's about 80 degrees. Pretty friggin hot for this time of year.

This past week was sort of crazy...I left on the 18th from north of Houston and it was in the 70's. Got to Giddings and spent the next few hours driving through the cold front and watching temps dip to as low as upper 40's as I got close to I-10 near Junction. Temps got back to the upper 50's by the time I hit Las Cruces.
Went outside Sunday to finish the drive to Vegas and it was 34 degrees. In the low 50's when I arrived, but upper 30's the next morning.
Coming home, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico were all mostly in the mid-50's. Back into Texas, I caught a lot of wind that about knocked me over when I stopped for gas even at Boerne (although not as bad as the stop in Van Horn). And arrived home after dark to temps back in the 70's.
Drives like that make for interesting observations...

I'm looking forward to it. I lived in Texas for 27 years. That's enough hot weather for a lifetime and a big reason I was willing to move to Europe. And I understand that 80 isn't that hot, but it's the hottest I've been since August. Furthermore, it's hot enough to be uncomfortable but not hot enough for old people to turn on the air conditioning.
