How bad is this economy going to get?

For me BTC and Crypto Currency appears to be the future. USD will be digitised in a few more years, less than 4. The former CEO of Coin base is working for the Fed now gearing up to go Digital. His last name is Brooks.
I’m starting another company in that market right now. The future is here!

What do Democrats worry about the most with regard to the econ?
Rapid economic growth in 3Q
lol
'Best economic data we’ve seen in the history of this country' is a Biden "worst-case scenario"
Explains basically their entire current position on everything - they dont care how much you and everyone else suffers, or how much. They want you to suffer

Interesting graphic this AM about Trump wanting to withdraw from Afghanistan after 19 years...total spent was shown to be $1.57T

In other words, more has been pissed away in the past few months with helicoptering of funds than would have been wasted in TWO Afghani incursions of almost 20 years in duration.

Obviously, you have never been to Argentina.

Markets attempt to look into the future.
No, never been there. Have you? When?
I just know it once had a great Economy, was the best in Latin America. Money printing destroyed it. Maybe they can come back. Would love to go there sometime. I don’t want America to go down that path. We’re looking down it real hard. I hope we change course.

AC, who knows what will happen in the future. But it is undeniable that the money supply inflation has produced asset price inflation.

Before 2008 much of that "new" money was going into real estate. Now pretty much all of it is going into stocks. It is a bubble. No one knows when it will pop.

My 401k is positive for the year. LH was talking smack 4-6 weeks ago, giddy at the falling stock market. I bought low and now positive.

I have. Most recently two years ago. Comparing their economy with the U.S. economy is an exercise in futility. The GDP, GDP per Capita, industrial base, rampant historical inflation, etc. etc. makes the two economies incomparable.

I think you have to go back to the early/mid 2000’s when Argentina was strong financially. There was a big shift.

I believe they have had rampant inflation beginning in the 1980s. Rampant, as in hundreds of percent per year.

1998–2002 Argentine great depression - Wikipedia

According to this we are both right. That's not the point though. Argentina was booming in the 90's and crashed in 2001 and into 2002 and has not recovered much since then. The 80's weren't too good either. I think your right that they are not that good of a comparison to the USA. We are a super power and USD is Global Reserve Currency. If we ever lose that status, it could be a good comparison. It is an example of what CAN happen, not saying it will happen. I don't want any part of living through that. Our Central Bank needs to wake up, they are getting the US on thin ice. IMHO.

Concur with this...one of the accounts mom has with the money managers is down from its high but is still ~10% over where it was at this time last year. Cannot speak to her other one since I don't have online access to that one (and don't want access).

Meanwhile, I continue to debate about whether to unload some January 2022 options and take the profit selling the options, execute them early to take the profit or hold another year and a half to make even more money. Decisions, decisions...

My 401k now at all-time high. Market is only down 3% for the year but presented great buying opportunity in April. I wish I bought more in April instead of reserving some for May.

I have no faith in a vaccine. I think the government and media are using it as a carrot to convince people that shutting down business and locking in homes is just temporary.

I think there will be a vaccine, but it won't be a silver bullet. It'll be like the flu shot. It'll help some people, but it won't kill this thing off. We'll have to deal with it forever at least to some significant degree.

Thanks, China!

Eventually there will be a vaccine but it won't be this year and probably not next year either. I read something about vaccine development. I think the quickest in history was 4-5 years.

Plus the vaccine people are talking about is synthetic. No synthetic vaccine has ever worked. This may be the first, but I wouldn't make any plans based on that.

The dog race park in Houston is shutting (the one in LaMarque)
28 years

The Sam Houston Track on the beltway track is still open
