Horns vs Wyoming game thread 2023

I'm concerned about losing Cole Hutson. Sark wont say anything post game I'm sure. Guess he will get an MRI on Sunday.

I took the family to a Horns game when Baylor still played at Floyd Casey. I can't remember the year, but Brett Robin was still with the Horns, he was my daughter's favorite Horn.

Texas rolled 'em that day. I took 'em to Cricket's for dinner after the game. We were all dressed in burnt orange and a friendly fellow met us at the door and said 'You probably don't want to eat here, our crowds absolutely hate Texas and they don't care if you've got kids.' We loaded back up and went to George's, it looked like any Austin joint on a Saturday night in there. Saw a few green & gold folks walk through the door and then leave. The drunk baptists are tough if they've got numbers, otherwise not so much.

Well don't go look at hudson card game stat for Purdue. 4 fumbles, lost 3 of them- 2 inside red zone, 1 int, 3 sacks. I had such high hopes for him there. But he single handily lost that game for them. QE that you apparently despise hasn't turned the ball over once this season and accounted for 3 TDs tonight.

The line of teams that would kill to have him as their starting QB forms to the left and Nick Saban just pushed his way to the front of the line.
 
I was trying to give credit to that 4th qtr to coaching adjustments, wyoming wearing down, players pulling their heads out of their arses, etc and then I saw this... none of that mattered. CDC said I'm going take this game into my own hands and win this for you boys. He dropped the new light show to start 4th qtr and the youngsters from Laramie chit their pants. #gameover

the best thing QE does is he doesn't turn the ball over.
2nd best thing he does, he gets rid of the ball when he gets pressured so that he doesn't take a sack. The bad part of that is that some receivers are starting to break open but he has already started his throw to someone not really open. So he avoids a sack but doesn't make a completion.

His receivers had too many drops. they have to help him out better.
 
FWIW, Rice and Wyoming both beat P5 schools and their only losses so far are to Texas. Rice just won 59-7 (don't worry about who it was against) they don't beat anyone by 52 points.

We all expected easy wins in those games and we had to fight our way through both games. I suspect both are much better teams than we all thought.

Bailor will run the same flyover defense and make it difficult on Quinn. Texas will need to establish a running game and wear down the Bailor defense. I don't know why it took Sark 3 qrtrs to figure that out last night. Wasting downs on incompletions and letting the other team have a 39-21 advantage is a good way to get beat.

And no more fing false starts.:brickwall:
 
A win is a win, so I’m very happy about that. What I am not happy about is the uneven play of Ewers, and the inconsistent play of the receivers. We simply drop too many passes.

Back to Ewers, we all know that he has the skill set, in spades. What we don’t know is if he can perform consistently, game to game. For the first time, I’m beginning to wonder.

One more observation. Using Blue in an important time in the game may simply be too risky. Why not use Red there?
 
I will admit to being a member of the “get off my lawn” crowd, but I think all the drones, LED lights, pyrotechnics, etc. is way over the top and leans towards the tacky side.
 
Sark got outcoached badly on this one.
Only reason we won is talent and depth.

And I guess I am ok with that happening occasionally as long as 1) we don’t lose, and 2) the reason is we’re preparing to hang 70 pts on the next big opponent on the schedule.
 
Coach PK and his mighty D kept us in the game, and ultimately put some distance between us with the Defensive TD.

A very meager 10 points (net of 3 points considering the D TD) surrendered against a fairly decent team.
