Horns travel to KSU for Sat. night game

:hookem:The stat sheet won't really show it, but IMO Brady and Tasia came off the bench and gave us the spark we needed to get going.

This was an ugly game, hard to watch. I was so frustrated with the Refs, they were horrible the entire game. Glad we got out with the W.

For all this times we're hard on Tasia (rightfully so, most of the time) lets give her some due credit. She was a difference maker in this game. Gave us some really good and really important minutes in this game.

Tasia was difference maker!!! Stop it. I think we are reaching to give her praise. Tasia came into the game and turned the ball right over. She did hit a 3 pointer but please do not forget she fouled someone at the end of the game with less than a second on the clock. Difference maker is a stretch and I do mean stretch! She played okay but I wouldn't say she was difference maker.

The elephant in the room is that Ariel is playing better than Empress! IMO Empress tries to hard to be a scorer, she is a good player when she lets her scoring come to her. The beginning of the KSU game was prime example of why I have reservations when it comes to Empress. She shot us out of a good start, there is no way she should take 5 of the first 7 shots.

I want to see if Coach Aston will make the change to Ariel in the lineup. Ariel seems to have a higher basketball IQ and she plays unselfish.

If Ariel does make into the starting lineup, it won't be at the expense of Empress. Empress does so many things well, and has the size and strength that none of our other guards have.

Seems like Celina has been running the point in order to allow Brooke to get more shots beyond the 3-point line off a pass. Brooke getting into foul trouble early more often than not recently might end up being the reason she cones off the bench (whether to spell Celina or Empress).

Mooooo I see your point but I think if you keep Brooke on the floor it stretches the defense. Ariel has more size than Empress, plus she is a better scorer. I could see maybe Aston going to the line up of Celina, Brooke, Empress, Ariel and Imani.

Like I said, Empress is a good player but just tries to score too much for her skill set. Whatever we do, we need to get Ariel on the floor. Based on what I have seen, we need Celina, Brooke, Ariel and Imani on the floor 35 plus minutes in big games. Empress/Bri/Kelsey can share the remaining minutes.

Honestly, playing time seems to come down to which of our backcourt players can stay out of foul trouble early in the game. Empress and Brooke seem to be the to guards most affected by foul trouble recently. Celina against Baylor, but she seems to have kept herself on the court by not picking up two early fouls very often. Even though Ariel is coming off the bench, she has also seen a few games with foul trouble.

The good news is that all four of those guards have been able to hit three point shot to help keep defenses honest this season, and help unclog the lane for our post players.

Not correct, IMO...E was not shooting well, but she is a great defender, and distributed the ball well...she does have a higher IQ and more experience than Ariel...We need both of them!
