Horns travel to KSU for Sat. night game

29-21 Horns, even though we are playing at KSU's tempo. Everyone gets their players sitting with two fouls back.

Horns 11-12 from the FT line to KSU's 3-6. All even in made FGs, made 3s. Really shooting poorly from the field (32%). Kelsey (3-5 FGs; 2-2 FTs) and Brianna (1-3 FGs and 5-6 FTs) lead with 8 & 7 pts, respectively. Martin and Sheble lead KSU with six pts each.

Lewis seems to be frustrated with the bad entry passes her KSU teammates are trying to make. Hope our twin towers does good things. Imani traveled on the first offensive possession they had together.

geez, this is a loooow scoring game. Horns up 12 entering the last quarter. Horns have no one in double figures although Empress, Brianna and Kelsey have 8, 9, & 8. Lewis leads KSU with 12 but with four fouls.

Good win. We played hard, not great shooting. How is Higgs going to learn to use her great talents if she doesn't get any minutes? Confuses me.

Only Brooke (15 pts) and Kelsey (10 pts) hit double figures but four others had 8-9 pts. 41-23 rebounding edge. Imani had a double 8, 8 pts and 8 rebs, not quite the double double we are used to by now.

Love the balance. Horns had 24 pts from the bench tonight and 3 of the 4 blocks.

Horns get a week off before going to Ames next Saturday.

This team finds a way to grind out wins in these ugly, boring games when they're not shooting particularly well. That says a lot about them because it hasn't always gone that way for us since joining the Big 12. In fact, its been very rare...like 2003-04 seasons and that's about it I believe. The program is definitely moving upward.

Free throws were good, tonight, that's always big in those grind out road games. We had good balance, played some defense, and relied on that total team effort. The officials were whistle-happy both ways and that didn't help the quality of the game either. Poor officiating is about par for the course though in the women's ganes.. with an occasional exception here and there.

Wow. That was sluggish but glad we found a way to win. Who knew we would do it with Imani limited to 8 and fouling out.

I hate how much the officials slow down the women's game. Someone needs to address that. The athleticism of today's players could really liven up the women's game if they were allowed to play. Ticky-tacky fouls are keeping things slow.

What I have been noticing is that it appears the freshmen get more minutes at home games. That makes some sense to me. Higgs time will come.

"As a team, Texas shot 37.7 percent (20-of-53) from the floor while holding Kansas State to a 35.6 shooting percentage (16-of-45). The Longhorns found their strength from the line, shooting 87.5 percent behind a 21-of-24 effort. The Horns dominated the boards, 41-23, and outblocked the Wildcats, 4-3."
