Horns-Pokes Game Thread

Why? I thought we were " All gas, no brakes"??
My preferred offense is creative misdirection and get the ball to number 5. Two weeks in a row of falling flat in 2nd half. I'm ready for Basketball season.
Frankly at this point the enjoyment of this team is Bijan, Keilan, Worthy. Roschon, TE, Etc. Give them the ball regardless if it makes sense.

Good: We came into the game well prepared and got off to a great start. The staff did their homework.

Bad: The (former) Mullet and his crew really made some effective half time adjustments. We did not. We have paid analysts on the staff. They should find in-game weaknesses in the opposition, and propose ways to exploit that at halftime. New specially designed plays on the white board in the halftime locker room. I would think we’re doing that, but we’re not doing it very effectively.

same story as the OU game— (1) good preparation for the game, (2) not so good halftime and in-game adjustments.

The pressing problem, apparently unsolvable, problem is the OL. Losing Okofor was major.

We were thin to start with and the injiries
Have doomed the season due to lack of dept.

Okafor? You think losing Okafor doomed the season? While I agree it didn't help, if Okafor is that big an ingredient in our recipe for success, we're doomed to eat sh*t sandwiches for the foreseeable future.

Face it. This team is mediocre at best. I like the heart and enthusiasm. Our QB’s are young, our Oline is weak and the in game coaching adjustments are suspect at best. We win 6 and go to a low tier bowl.

So play the subs, freshman and all. Anything to stop the 4th qtr melt down. Rotate them in early and often while the offense is (seemingly) hot and maybe the starters will have some gas at the end. Do something for goodness sake, cause this is not working and there is no acceptable reason to totally implode after 2 and1/2 qtrs.

Theii’s when I use my critical lens and not my orange tints I have to agree. Like years past we have some stars that make us smile but overall we simply have a long way to go to play with the elite, uhhh to play with the above average. Starting hot shows that we have some talent and can do good things when clicking but cannot keep it up for 60 minutes. Lots of teams like this unfortunately but not the good ones.

I was not saying that Okofor was a star, but the OL had worked as a unit after the piggies game. The OL was not a rolling ball of butcher knives with him,
but has been terrible an unsettled without him.

I haven’t placed blame lately so here goes.
Strong baked the cake and Herman iced the cake.
Too bad they used the same ingredients as the pie in ‘The Help!’

QB play today was poor. So many key 3rd downs where Thompson looked confused or jumpy or couldn't run a clean play. Didn't throw down the field at all in the second half. I know there was pressure but he just looked confused and played poorly. Hudson Card won the job for a reason. Looked fine til he had a terrible game (along with everyone else) against Arkansas. I would go back to him. Why not? This season is shot. Also, that roughing the passer on 3rd and long was crap, and Thompson gets driven into the ground far more violently, no foul.

The offensive line is awful and we get out adjusted. It doesn’t matter. Seemingly brilliant preparation, opening script and ready to play. But then they figure us out and no in game fixes and the line issues catch up.

Found this summary of the game:

“Texas: The Longhorns were pushed around at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball for the second week in a row. The offensive line, which was reshuffled this week because of injuries, allowed three sacks and Robinson had nowhere to run in the second half as Texas ended the game with 12 yards on its last six drives.”

Different week, same performance. 12 yards on our last six drives of the game. Not good at all.

Well, they're just kids...
Yes, and I'm quite sure at this very moment they're engaged in some serious introspective soul searching, you know, to learn and grow and get better from this experience. I hope not one of them feel the slightest twinge of regret or sadness, you know, we wouldn't want to jeopardize their emotional well being. In fact, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind each and every player that God and their mommy loves them.
