Horns-Pokes Game Thread

The play-calling on offense/defense in the 2nd half was horrible. Going shotgun on 3rd and 1, playing soft prevent coverage when the opposition is trying to move the chains, etc. This loss is on the coaches.

we’re not beating WV, it’s at their house and they hate us as much as aggies do, they’ll play their Super Bowl and run run run to a win. Absolutely no way. I will put money in it.
Don't flatter yourself. We're nobody's Super Bowl. The intensity we see from other teams is the normal level of effort required to win a D1 football game. We're just so accustomed to soft we don't recognize an average level of tough.

Look at the bright side. At least we have the best offensive mind and play caller in college football.

Remember All Gas No Brakes!!

When Casey became ineffective mid way through the third, he should have gone to Card. At least let CT rest for a couple of series while Card got a chance. He couldn’t have done any worse and maybe it would have lit a fire under CT’s rear.

I’ve been listening to and watching the Texas Longhorns since 1957.
Through thick and thin, no matter what, Burnt Orange was the only thing that mattered.
These most recent back to back fiascos have just about turned me away from Longhorn football.

That said, I’ll see y’all in 2 weeks!

Seven games in and I see no improvement. Last week and today combine to be as bad as anything that ever occurred under Strong and Herman. The postgame comments from the players are pathetic. Nothing more than 'giving props' to OSU's RB for his ability to avoid tackles. No one is pissed, no one talks about how losing sucks.

When you have a good game plan and play well enough to win and then just implode and make no adjustments and shoot yourself in the foot, it makes for a much worse reaction and emotional let down. Time for a break from football.

So is the coaching staff choking or the Longhorns? Needless to say, it's quite a sad reputation to have. Oh well, here's to another mediocre season and hopeful mediocre bowl game. (Wonder what the bonus is for a mediocre bowl game?) Thank goodness, basketball is starting soon.

We jumped out ahead, held the lead until the 4th and then **** in the bed. All the gas keeps running out too early. 2 weeks in a row we have the game in hand and can’t finish. Not impressed at this point.

Don't. know what to think about Sark.
Very good first half coach?
Nutts get tight in the second half. He loses creativity during adversity. And he doesn't use all his weapons AKA Keilan Robinson. No swing passes to the RBs or no bootlegs to get the qb out of the pocket etc. Hes got to be creative the whole game and not just the first half.

Yep. And Sark just commented the team is mentally fragile. Look like world beaters and epically stall. When was the last time Texas blew 2 double digit 2nd half leads against ranked teams in a row?

I think that BR had 23 touches. That’s not enough. While 35 against TCU was heavy, we won that game.

I believe that had we rode our horse more in the 2nd half — and run more to the right — we might have won this game.

Were we beaten by superior teams the past two weeks, were we out coached in the 2nd halves. or both? While I like Sark, I am beginning to wonder.

O . . . M . . . G!!! Mentally fragile?? What the hell does that even mean? They need to be exceptionally angry to the point they want to destroy their opponent each and every week. Mentally fragile. Gezus, give me break.

That's the Cali coming out in him. Soft, soft, soft. Everyone has been complimenting him for being such a level headed guy and such a professional unlike the last guy. Has he ripped anyone a new *** lately? Have you seen any real emotion from the guy? He can't be all ***, but sometimes you have to be one. Seems like something is missing there.

Well, I blame it on Gary Patterson making such a big deal about a guy having 37 touches, but the last 2 game since those comments, Bijan has had about a dozen less touches & results are two losses. Look Texas, do you want a Heisman and victories? Also, why don't we utilize Jared Wiley?!?! Just right when they zone in on stopping Bijan, slip Wiley out and he will be open. Our OL can't sustain blocks, so we need to do quick development of plays. Sark is stubborn on the deep throw. Those "long bombs" are nice for ESPN idiots to talk about, but it doesn't equate to team success.

Step away from the cliff.

Agree. We had the lead on ou until late in the 4th. Same thing this week with okie lite. Lost in the 4th. Don’t know why this happens, in that is it one reason or a combination of several.

I jumped on the bandwagon in’61, big time. They soared to #1 in the polls and then wet the bed against TCU and broke my 12 yo heart. I should have learned a lesson then, but here I am, 60 years later, still letting them ruin my weekends. I swear them off most years, but I keep coming back for more.

Could it be the practice regimen and mental preparation for the game is the problem? This team is not mentally tough and scrappy. They look unrested, to last 60 minutes. Maybe strength and conditioning? They fold when the game gets tight. Consistently!

Just got in from game and can say that while it’s easy to blame the defense for not getting timely stops the offense is who lost this game. Just like when we had Ricky I used to say along with the crowd, “give the ball to Ricky” I am saying the same thing about Bijan. It’s sick the way our offense clicks for a half then becomes ho hum. Heck we shouldn’t run any play we do not make a serious fake to Bijan because everyone has a eye on him every play.
Casey? Can’t say I know personally but for whatever reason he was certainly off after the first half. I would compare his presence in game looked an awfully lot like Card vs Ark. but I think honestly the offensive scheme in the second half was piss poor.

I agree except that a long throw is necessary to stretch out the defense on occasion.
