Horns-Frogs Game Thread

Talented yes but not experienced at the most critical positions: QB , LB, DB, and OL.
Ewers missed o so many deep balls tonight I lost count . And he didn’t see (because he didn’t look) Bijon wide open at the tcu 10 yard line and overthrew Sanders in the tcu end zone.
True freshmen make bad mistakes. Card should have gone in at half time. I really think we win this game if Card played the last half
Other programs with players who have heart and a semblance of coaching play better than Texas while having the same inexperience.

So I just watched a replay of the roughing the punter penalty on us at the beginning of the 4th - BS flop. Shortly thereafter Johnson gets lost by our safeties for the longTD....

First of all, I am not a sunshine pumper. As most you know, I have been through the ups and downs all of the way back to the Price years. But just because Texas has not become a powerhouse does not mean it won’t happen. Texas got beat by a very good team tonight. They were not embarrassed and fought until the end.

One thing for sure, starting a meltdown and a movement for the firing of the coach is not the answer. It is common knowledge that the offensive line is a works in progress and when they struggle with a 3 man front nothing works. Texas is a better team this year and I really liked what we saw on defense. They are a couple of defensive backs from being real good. And Ewers is a kid under fire and obviously needs a little support from his coach and fans. All of the experts will tell us he has the raw talent. If Texas defeats him, everybody will lose.

I will give them some time to make it better and damn sure won’t go Aggie on them.

Tcu had a masterful game plan. Mug the LOS with 8-10 guys ( yes I counted them on one 3rd and two) and dared Ewers to beat them with the pass. And tcu has the d-backfield to do it. And Ewers doesn’t have what it takes right now to win against tcu’s d and against an offense with a very good QB.

The only BS on that play was between the ears of our Special Teams Coach.
So you think that was a valid flag? Also, wth else did we have going? Good call to go for the block #1 because if we get it it’s HUGE and #2 it should not have been flagged.

Who? Put them up against tcu and see who wins. Tcu is 9-0. They have an excellent qb and the best wide receiver in the conference. They have a talented and experienced d backfield. Did you see how quickly their RB pulled away on the long td run?
Tcu is legit .
If you switch qb’s— Duggan in our lineup and Ewers in theirs, we win by two TD’s easily.

TCU wasn't so good that our offense should have been as anemic as it was. Something is wrong. They just can't get it together.

Michael griffin agrees. he said holding TCU to 17 points, Texas should win the game.

Put Card in. Find a transfer or Juco QB. The fact Texas is once again down to Spicoli at QB is unfathomable.

Anytime a defender cuts the punter's landing foot out from beneath him it's going to be called roughing, and rightfully so. If they don't rough the punter we take possession with great field position and momentum has shifted.

Michale Griffin also was saying that TCU was not that good a defensive team. Texas was supposed to be able to score a lot on them.

So, scoring 3 is 100% unacceptable. TCU is good. They aren't that good. GA or whomever will kick their ***.

Just got home from the game. Sark is a punk and somebody needs to take him out back and slap some sense into him. We had 7 possessions to start the game and one 1st down. It was clear Quinn was lost tonight. You gotta make the change. I'd of made it at half but you certainly have to make it after the 1st possession in the 2nd half. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. And that's what we did all night. QE is completely lost on the deep ball. That pic was just awful. Overthrowing X on another. He doesn't just miss, he's not within 5 yds. Card. would have given us a much better chance to win. He's better on the intermediate routes and has legs. But Sark is just too damn stubborn. He's just another Herman. Oh and every 4th and short let's run power right. Every damn one of them. We finally started getting the ball to guys in space but that's usually how we start the game. By then it was too late. And what's up with Ewers just falling down. He looked like he was drunk 1/2 the night. Game was depressing as hell. Least the Mavs won.

This game was too big for Sark. He puckered and the team followed suite.

Sark has been a bust. Cut bait and find someone that can make Football good.
Simple

Does anyone really give a spit anymore? I dont care if we beat Kansas or not. This season is a total loss, more of the same, just a pile of crap. One more loss or victory won't change a thing.
I'm out. I went to the game tonight and it was death by a thousand paper cuts. So painful to watch. We will have had one of the great backs for 3 years and probably at best get to 7-5. How pathetic is that and what a waste. Wake me when Sark is gone. I was screaming "what more do you need to see" like somehow he could hear me. And I screamed don't try and block the punt. It's 4th and 3 and you can't risk running into the kicker. Well hell, instead we get roughing. Not that it would have mattered. QE would have just fallen down or dropped the ball. Guy looked like he'd taken a quaalude before the game or something. I don't know what planet he's on, but it's not this one. He must be getting some really good pot with the NIL money or something.

Yes, something is wrong. Ewers is not as competent as Duggan. Its not complicated. Duggan is head and shoulders ahead of Ewers.

TCU loaded the line of scrimmage to stop our best player from making plays--Bijan. It worked. TCU made a statement: We will stack the line and stop the run. Beat us with the pass if you can. Ewers could not do it.

Maybe Card would have. I think he could have. I think Card has better vision of the field at this point than Ewers. Card also is a good scrambler. He would clearly have been better tonight than Ewers. Ewers is shaken. He is not seeing the field. He is rushing his throws--not seeing his second or third options. He went 0 for infinity on the deep pass; Worthy was running open at least 2-3 times and Ewers missed him badly. And he simply cannot make anything happen with his feet.
I do not think Ewers, as he played tonight, can bring a victory against Baylor. The bears will do the same thing TCU did. Stack the line and dare Ewers to beat them passing. And we will need a different Ewers to beat them than we saw tonight.

Hats off to the frog. Best team we've faced this year. Stiffeling D. Sonny needs to send Gary a Thank You note/gift for the tools he left in the garage. Our young O-line was absolutely overmatched. They will be AMAZING in 2-3 yrs if they stay healthy...but tonite?!?!?!
I personally thought Hudson should have gotten a shot. True, Quinn's receivers had multiple drops, but.
This was the frogs' nite. Put it in the books & move on.

I can go out in the yard and learn more picking up dog ****.

I just redistribute the dogshit from the yard, to the trees. Nutrients and stuff ya know. Good for the trees if you have a lot of them in the yard.

I'd also like to redistribute the head coach to a compost pile if I could. Since I don't have an extra few million laying around I'll just state the obvious on a message board. We suck. CDC wouldn't know how to hire a good head football coach if one walked into his office

With every passing week I'm more unimpressed.

Amazing how all these coachess with 2 star and 3 star recruits keeps winning and we are still ******. TCU had no one coming back, fired their coach, has a backup QB, lost their best Defensive player to portal, etc. We whiffed again on coach. too bad Herman was too much of a ***** to stand up the woke crowd because he was probably our best X/O's coach we've had...7-3 sure sounds good now...

According to Google, tcu's average recruit ranking, 87.78, is the highest in the Big 12.

Tcu has a veteran D that was put together by one of the best D minds ever in college ball (thank goodness he no longer wears purple). We start 2 true Freshmen & 2 Sophs on the O front 5.

True, but that same defense struggled against SMU, West Virginia, Kansas, and Texas Tech.

Dabo pulled his QB and out in a freshman and won the game. Said after the game that the guy he pulled was still out starter, just not his day

Yes but the real key was their D was shutting down the opposing offense. Syracuse got tired and couldn't stop the Clemson run game. I suspect if they'd stayed with the starter they'd have still won as long as they still also switched from 50/50 to 80/20 run heavy. Backup completed all of 2 passes, and one was a 1 yard completion on 3rd and 4 at that.

Glad I stayed up all night here in Portugal to watch that crap.
Tired of hearing about Ewers youth and inexperience.
He has been on a college campus and practice field for two years now.
He has been on the 40 acres for spring, summer and fall camps.
He has started 10 games.
Mack Brown has a TRUE FRESHMAN QB being mentioned in the Heisman race.
Card needs to be inserted in these games.
He would play no worse and it would serve Ewers well to sit and think about his performance.
