heckuva speech, Trumpy

I suspect they will play the age card on Biden, and they'll have a solid point. Who would really take issue with that? With Harris, I think they'll just acknowledge her lack of viability. It's pretty obvious anyway. Blowing Willie Brown can get you pretty far, but it won't quite get you to the presidency. She can still be proud of that. So can Willie Brown.
This is why I also oppose trotting out DJT again...he is certainly more cognitively aware, but President WhoKnowsWhereHeIs has all but ensured this nation never again elects anyone who is going to turn 75 while in office.

The Republican party needs to find someone who endorses Trumpian policies which we know WORK (a foreign concept to the left), lacks the element of divisiveness the left ascribes to DJT, and then allow DJT to just continue drawing bodies to the rallies to keep the support and turn out the vote.

I think DeSantis fits that slot. He has shown cajones.
I would vote for Trump again . He had us in a good place.
But the Demx and media have made sure he is smeared every day.
I hope he gets behind DeSantis

No, they are assertions which have not been afforded an opportunity to withstand the scrutiny of a cross-examination of the witness.
There is VIDEO of one of the claims.
Trump demonstrably did nothing for 187 minutes. That is not in dispute. What he did was not log any of the calls he made because they were to lobby people like Tuberville to overturn the election or to Meadows to tell them that "well Mark, they seem more upset than you do".

Very interesting proposal by Trump today for the homeless issue:

Get them off the city streets now. Open up large parcels of land on the edges of the cities. Quickly build permanent bathrooms and facilities, put up thousands of good tents. Staff the facilities with doctors, nurses, psychologists, and addiction specialists. Goal—get them back on their feet and back into society once rehabbed and with jobs, etc.

No Allsups bathrooms in Trumps tent cities.

I don't see anything in Trump's proposal about what to do if the homeless refuse the help if it means giving up drugs/alcohol.
Even here in Dallas these services exist and are constantly offered and rejected by many if not most.

Then they can waste away in the tent city.

It is often mental health going untreated.

Yea, haven't courts stated government agencies can't force people to move into a certain place (other than jail for a crime)? Police can remove homeless people out of a spot but not into a spot.

As many of us have stated.
So, do you force them to get treatment if they refuse?
Please link to the mental health commentary in this thread. Thanks in advance.

I don't know. Many in mental distress don't think they need treatment/services. Trump's idea is not horrible.

Yes, you put the tent city in the middle of nowhere, which means it will take months for them to wander back to downtown. They are sent there for legitimate reasons: to be processed for breaking the law, for wellness check , etc.

But mc
You can NOT force them to move to a tent city

Bubba
What mental health commentary? Does it address this issue;
You can't Force homeless people with mental health issues to accept help.
The social workers I have been with who tried to get homeless to accept help were some of the kindest caring non judgmental persuasive people I have seen.
When an obviously mentally ill homeless person refuses they can't be forced. They can be forced to vacate a certain locale , that is all

This was tried ~80 years ago.
And before anyone gets their underoos in a twist, there are some similarities between the two issues.
Along with numerous differences.

Trump is not wrong. What we have now (OFFERING the homeless help including medical and rehab) is Not working.
He doesn't say it but he implies making them move to these tent encampments.
Anyone think this can actually happen?

PROBLEM!!!!!

most of them don't want to get back on their feet. My wife and I have adopted a few of them and no amount of wishful thinking is going to get them rehabilitated.
They are about equally divided between drug goners and mentally ill people who have been treated but wont stay on their meds (they don't like how they make them feel). An occasional arrest for thievery gets them some time in jail where they get fed or some drug rehab and then its back to the streets. Their families may be able to help a few (VERY FEW) but otherwise the do gooders are just staring in space and hoping something good will happen instead of looking at what is right in front of them.

Trump is an idiot in case you haven't noticed yet and are still just staring in space and hoping something good will happen.

Plenty of good things happened during Trump's admin.
Plenty of good things happened in Clinton’s administration but he wasn’t responsible for many of them. Trump is a tv star and a pied piper charlatan and Biden couldn’t have beaten anybody else just like Trump couldn’t have beaten anybody but the lady on the broom

This may be the answer. Send homeless folks to the middle of nowhere (which is where the camp is) for a check or processing of a crime. Then have them work their way back to downtown. However, my understanding is a surprisingly large chuck of homeless folks have cars so all they have to do is phone a friend to get a ride back. But will their friends want to drive, say 12 hours round trip Austin to Monahans, TX to get them?

Guy
Force homeless to a tent city??
Wish it could but it will NEVER happen

It is a force as it's for processing or a welfare check. However, I can understand the concern. The folks in charge might send everyone they dislike there for a wellness check.

Why you got to bring Monahans into this? They have enough transient oil field workers causing problems.

Just picking a place that's not next door to Austin. Feel free to change the name to any other place. Too close to comfort from the name, huh?
