This is a common term in epidemiology. It highlights the impact on something like a pandemic on ALL deaths, not just the COVID deaths. Things like deaths from untreated cancer, suicide, etc. It is those in excess of expected. This study was for Sweden and Spain. Odd pair.

I'm in favor of workplace mandates. Especially in healthcare.

I'm neutral on the workplace mandates, primarily because I work from home, and my wife is my paralegal. My daughter attends school online with ASU. My wife also works for a large law firm in Phoenix but everybody is online and will remain so, regardless of the covid outcome, since they sold their building. The profits they made were split evenly between all the partners and employees regardless of length of service. That was a nice pop! I don't know about Phoenix. It's being overrun with Californians and yankees and I don't go up there except to pass through to somewhere else. So, my position on the whole thing is like the line by Jimmy Stewart in the movie Shenandoah, "Are they on our land?" His son, "No, Pa." Stewart, "Then it doesn't concern us."

We have done about 20,000 in our system. No reportables. The only one that raised flags…turned out she was trying to get out of going to work.

Yes. We had adverse effects but nothing that rose to the level to be reported nationally. Site soreness, 12-24 hours of symptoms, etc.
