Got Call of Duty 4 for Christmas

Mandingo--A, B, and C refer to the spots for the flags in "domination" mode. it's like territories or whatever the halo iteration is. Online, even in deathmatch games, you'll often hear teammates saying "i'm sniping from the house by A" or something similar so their teammates know what's being held down.

Has anyone noticed competition in the evening hours (say after 9) is much tougher then during the day?

Ether the competition during the day is much easier or being drunk makes the game much tougher!
 
Hornbri, you are dead on...day before yesterday I had an AM Dr.'s appt so I was able to get three HCTDM matches in after breakfast. 22:3 on Showdown, 16:1on Overgrown and 14:3 on Ambush.

After work and "Quality time", I log in with a group from TEX and fail to crack double digits in kills and taking double digits in deaths. I sent a message to those I was playing for the embarrassment I had brought on myself.

Last night, before dinner around 7, I got one game in and went 14:3 on Backlot. Around 8, Stro and Nettoc and I get slaughtered in the worst match I've ever seen on Vacant I think it was like 750 to 50 (that's really not embellishing...it was HORRIFIC!!!). The rest of the night was pretty much the same, I again failed to crack double digits in k's and took double digits in d's. My K/D ratio is back to around 1.11.

I've either got to change my work schedule or really get much, much better...

Just bought the game a few days ago. The online mode is quite addictive. I'm not that great (getting better), but if anyone wants to add me, I am "kkoshkin" on PS3.
 
wow, that actually is a really great spot. I play a lot of HC matches (on the ps3, sorry) so camping is easier with the killcam turned off.


BTW, last night i played several matches against and with Barak_Obama__ and it was hilarity. All anyone wanted to do was kill Barak, and we joked about the entire match. Then, he was ON our team, so it turned into a self-killing fest, with everyone not only shooting at the other team, but shooting Barak as well. i have no idea how that guy stayed in the match for the next 3 rounds. it was a riot.

What setup is everyone playing on? I'm on a Sharp Aquos 42" 1080p LCD. I don't know how I could ever play without something at least this good, I think I've ruined myself for computer gaming, etc.

COD4 only outputs in 720p though which is weird.
 
Um, yall are really good. Thanks for letting me play, but I don't belong in any game with any of yall or your opponents. I think in two games I saw maybe 5 opponents and was instantly killed by all of them.
 
You did fine, the first time in HC Team Deathmatch is always rough. Give it time and patience, you'll get the hang of it. We played a variety of styles last night HC, Dom, RTDM and found that we got rocked in regular matches.

As you get better, it'll seem easier and the learning curve isn't very steep. Good luck and hope to see you online with us again.

i MAY be on for a bit right after work or late tonight (after 11) but we'll see. That was a good time last night, even though i was ready to throw my controller into the tv when i logged back in after going to the bar. playing drunk=playing poorly.

and kkosh--sorry you got thrown on the wrong team a few times!


if we get enough people on (say 8) we should run a few private matches so we can laugh about killing each other. We all know where everyone likes to hide so it would be a riot.
 
Last night was allsome! It was cool to have a big group like that together. I hope kkosh was able to jump into my spot in the party.

Stro, Nettoc, Bass and I had some Private Match action the other night. We were trying to find out how people were getting into certain sniping spots and teach Net's significant other how to play.

Bass' "unintentional" stabbings, Stro's C4 trickeration and my use of the MP5 as a laser pointer...made for some funny kills...I wish we had recorded it, because it was almost like Machinima <sp?>.

I'll be on for a while, probably between 7 and 9:30 or so, maybe earlier, maybe later, depending on the wife (I got her GH3 as a V-Day gift so we're splitting PS3 time now), and how tired I am. I woke up at 1:45 this AM thinking about playing and couldn't fall back to sleep. Hope to see y'all online this evening.

Going to play after the Spurs Mavs game. I have played around 5 times since December, so each time I suck for a while. Still a blast though.
 
So yeah, just picked up my copy yesterday, and you guys are right it is badass. Do ya'll still get together and play? If anyone wants to add me to the friend list let me know, I'm down to play.

I love when you get close to your enemy they can hear you talking. I was sneaking up behind my buddy and then talking **** right before i blasted him.

to me this game is like playing golf since you feel like you're constantly refining your weapons and perks. Also, once you start getting better weapons, you'll really dig it. In the mean time, if you have a change to pick up weapons on the ground left by someone killed at that spot pick some up you don't have in your current inventory. You'll get a kick out of it.
 
It's been a long uphill struggle, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of this game. Played 9 games yesterday. Won 5. Was 2nd in 3 others. Absolutely humiliated a bunch of dudes last night on Overgrown. Finished the game with 3:00 left. Second place guy had 40 points.

I dunno where this came from. It's like I just got over the hump all of a sudden. Before yesterday, I only had 7 wins.

Absolutely addicted. I can't play more than 5-6 hours a week, though.
I find myself thinking of class combos when I'm driving around or mowing the lawn. Crazy.
 
Mandingo, I logged on this morning (4/3) hoping to be able to download the new map pack. Since it was not yet available, I played a few hardcore TDM games. Next thing you know, it was close to 9:00 and I had to get to work. Damn game is my crack cocaine. I too think of perk/weapon combo strategies all the friggin time. I want to play all the time and most of the time I play late at night, I have to force myself to quit. What a rush of a game. Halo3 hasn't been played in months since this came along. Also have no desire to purchase a new game either (although my son's report card earned him the Super Mario Brawl Wii game).
 
New maps, looking forward to that. Anyone play alot of search and destroy on 360? I freaking love s&d. If you like strategery you will enjoy it.
 
Turd of Doom your G/T is Mendalbaum right? I'm Brown Wall. you occasionally send an invite and I send them back to you. Hopefully we can play sometime. I'm digging hardcore TDM right now. I don't play S&D much, but will definitley give it a shot.
 
Maps only available online as downloads? Or in stores on disc a la Halo 2 map packs?

I went to Best Buy & they had no idea what I was talking about, although the current edition of COD4 includes the 4 new maps for the same price we all paid.

Looks like the new maps aren't coming out until the 10th now.

It looks like those 1.3 million Xbox 360 owners who fire up Call of Duty 4 on a daily basis are going to have to wait a week for their new set of maps.

The Variety Map Pack, which includes the maps Creek, Broadcast, Chinatown and Killhouse, was supposed to be out tomorrow, but Call of Duty's web site indicates the release has been delayed until the 10th.

So whether you were planning on ponying up the $10 to buy the maps from the Marketplace, or simply cashing in the free token that was included with your copy of Call of Duty 4's Game of the Year Edition, you're simply going to have to wait.

If anyone wants to play on xbox my g/t is POPPA SNIPES.

BTW, gotta brag to someone, I had a 20 kill streak on Crossfire last night. Don't think I could duplicate it, at least not under the same circumstances. Crazy.
