Got Call of Duty 4 for Christmas

Prestige or not?

I'm at 55 now and am considering to do this. Have any of you done this and if so, was it difficult to catch up? My fav gun (M16) would be immediately available, but I'd have to work on the other perks that I use (3 frag, stopping power, deep impact).
 
from what i hear, prestige is just not worth it. I certainly won't be doing it, even though i use the m16 more than any other gun. reason number 1 is my beloved claymores. there's just no way i could keep playing my camping style without them. i'm not much for "run 'n gun" because i like to have the advantage in a firefight. reason 2, variety is nice. i JUST unlocked the g36c, and i like having the options available to me. right now, i use probably 4 gun configurations regularly. prestige just seems like a waste to me.
 
I heard you and Stro rocked the other night...congrats! I finally got back in a groove last night...one HC round I went 15:0 on WetWork no less...

As for Prestige...I'm thinking about it now that I've just about closed all the challenges out (except for the shotty which I just can't get the hang of). I've really come to miss the rush that comes with closing a challenge...but losing all my guns will definitely suck...

It would be cool if we could arrange some time when 10-12 (or more) of us could be online for a "friendly" custom hardcore match...
 
That would be pretty sweet...

I was in a match with some guys from Canada, and they were saying that we should go clan to clan against them sometime. I said it would be great but even trying to get three of us into a match together is like herding cats...they laughed and said the it was the same with them. Maybe one weekend we could pull something like that off. Of course, this weekend coming up I've got an interview out of town and won't be around much.

Maybe weekend after this we could try something like that.

Generally speaking I'm around:

Mon. - Thurs. 5:30 to 8
Fri. 5:30 to 6:30; anytime after about 10:15
Saturday 12:30 to 6; anytime after about 10:15
Sunday Noon to 3; 6:30 to 8:30

I took a vacation day today and have been playing off and on since 10:30...enjoy the office suckers!!!

I am disappointed at the lack of realism relative to the Barrett .50 Cal. The rest of the game is "accurate" for a video game, but me putting the f'ing crosshairs on a target's chest, then slamming two rounds from the Barrett into his chest, only to watch him run for cover is just plain wrong.

I'd also like to lodge something in the developer's hind qtrs regarding the MP5. It is a great gun, there is no doubt about it, but there is no way in hell someone wielding one is going to pick me off through a wooden wall (near the Barn) from across the map (standing on the uncovered bridge) on Overgrown. When I saw the KillCam I was like WTF?!?!

Next round, same story although this time we're on WetWork, I'm up in the bridge area, he's at the A spawn point, all the way across the map and "pop" it happens again. I'm thinking sniper rifle, but KC shows some dude praying and spraying with an MP5...maybe it's a technical glitch but it really pissed me off...

Anyhow, thanks for letting me clear my head...

Deep- yeah, sometimes the guns don't seem all that "accurate" in terms of damage, especially the sniper rifles. They seem to really focus on headshots if you're sniping, as the damage multiplier is higher (1.5x) than if you hit someone in the chest (1.2x i think). I found a website that had all that info on it for each gun, but can't find it again.

I'm still closing in on that elusive K/D ratio of 1, i'm at .94 right now, a mere 125 kills away! should happen this week...

I hear ya, Danno. The only thing more aggravating for me is when I look at the kill cam and see some yahoo looking straight up into the clear blue sky and indescriminately lobbing 3 straight frag grenades, just hoping they will hit something. Well, guess what, one of the three usually hits me, and pisses me right off.

To say nothing of the fact that they travel 50-75 yards in the air. When did the F'ing Marines start recruiting Vladimir Guerrero?
 
I do the prestige. I kind of like unlocking the stuff again.

I agree with the 50 cal criticisms. I was watching the military channel last night and learned that the 50 is used more to stop vehicles than as an anti personnel wep.
 
Not a prob Snives, I was only able to get a couple of matches in last night before lack of sleep did me in...

Yeah Deep, there's nothing more fun than the random grenade toss especially to start a match...I really enjoy when some SOB does it on an S&D match where you spend the rest of the round watching some guy camp behind a wall or even better still standing the in spawn point b/c he ran to the john while the rest of the team got offed moments after the start of the game...

BTW, are you on PS3 or 360?

I'm on 360. Our clan name is [WOO], and it consists of Texas alums/ fans. We're all level 55, not really wanting to go to Prestige, and not fans of the Spawn Jumpers, or Grenade Lobbers.

Nothing more irritating than starting out on Wetworks, or The Bog, and having 6-9 frags land all around you before you even get started. I take that back, what is MORE irritating is when the game spawns you right under a GD airstrike. Thanks Activision!

All the complaining aside, it's a fantastic game. And there is nothing better than playing with 5 friends and all of us cutting up during the action. We don't take it too seriously, unlike some of the trash talking clans.
 
Nice work Mandingo...I peaked at 1.15 and have been sliding back since.

I've gotten to where I can't play Domination anymore. I've gotten so used to HC games I feel like I'm playing nude when I play something else. Of course I'm also closing out some of the worst gun challenges (I totally suck with a shotgun) so when I finish those out, maybe I'll start a comeback.

Just went prestige yesterday and I'm already up to a 20 again. I thought I'd regret it but I didn't. The points matter again. When I started at prestige 1, I busted out the noob toob to get the m16 kills fast so that I could get the red dot as soon as possible.

I thought my kills would suffer, but they didn't. fun fun game (Brown Wall).
 
Finally reached 1.0 K/D last night with a 15 kill run on Pipeline.


Can't really see straight today, but I'll muddle through.

I've been sitting at level 55 for weeks now, wondering if Prestige is worth it.

When you start over, do you start playing against low level gamers again, or do you start playing against the higher level prestige folks?
 
I have another question.

Some buddies and I play Multiplayer, offline. As most of you probably know, the offline MP game allows you to pick from prearranged sets of weapons with their own respective sets of perks...some of which pretty much suck...others of which are way too potent in combination. Also, many of the more popular weapons are not available.

Is there something I'm missing? Is this all you get in MP, or is there a way for players to build up, select, and customize their own perks a la LIVE play?

If not, this is an aspect of the game that really deserves some attn in the next iteration, imho.
 
I noticed that launched grenades did not count as m16 kills. There is a great spot to go on huge killing streaks on pipeline. Most pipelines I usually go on a 10 kill streak.
 
pipeline has grown on me too... I found a good bottle-neckish area where you can sit and wait for the run-and-gunners to come rushing up to throw themselves at your bullets... for the longest time I used to get my *** routinely handed to me on this map... not anymore
 
WELL? Where is said spot? i generally avoid the roofs, as it's easy to get picked off. i tend to favor the side that has the large hill on it, and usually hang out over by C, either in the corner building or behind some boxes in the large warehouse.
