Sam played well most of the game but he had several big misses late including a poor throw and a poor decision on our last two plays.

To me this was a microcosm of the poor judgment and ineptitude of Tom Herman. Going for the fake punt was unwise, and not going through the field goal in the fourth quarter may have cost them the game. And frankly, it should cost Tom Herman his job.

All I can say is I was wrong. I thought it would take them 8 plays to go 69 yards for the winning TD. It took only 5. Adios, Mr. Herman. You can't talk your way out of this one.
Funny things is, I'm not even bothered by these performances anymore. I expect them.

Sam missed so many long balls in this game, especially in the 2nd half. Sr. should be able to make more of those throws. He needs to come back and work with a personal coach over the spring/summer or he has no chance to play in the pros.

The next-to-last offensive series was the problem. With a 4-point lead, you only needed 3 first downs to put it away. ISU didn't even have to burn a timeout. Same as the stupid next-to-last series as last year in Ames.

Kids make mistakes but coaching brain farts over and over and over again is just unacceptable. Herman will always be who he is and that will never be more than mediocre at best and downright awful too often. The only good thing I can say about him is that he isn’t Charlie but that’s an awfully low bar.
