Fossil fish nixes Intelligent Design

At my high school we studied specifically studied religion in World Geography class which I think is an appropriate setting because they have more flexibility in their curriculum and religion is very much a part of the human mosaic.
 
Certainly the OP title is in err, because no discovery of any fossil can prove that God did not create the life from which it came. Furthermore, the sentiment that science can somehow disprove the existence of God is a fruitless pursuit.
However, if someone is genuinely concerned about the content of his or her child's science curriculum, he or she should take it up with the principal or school board instead of painting a broad brush against the majority of people in the country who are Christians. Given that people have the right to pursue whatever faith they wish in this country, including the protections afforded atheists and agnostics, I don't understand why some atheists won't be content until there's no religion (i.e no religious freedom) in the U.S.
