For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Trajectory/Trend- I hear these terms used frequently by under-performers trying to buy more time before I fire them.
haveDuck Dodgers, post: 1782126, member: 136211"]Trajectory. This is the second time I’ve seen him use that word. It’s a way of saying that while the trophy case is empty and his record against OU / TCU / OSU is a combined 4 - 9, he’s on the right path.

There is no evidence of this. The team lost more games in season 3 than in season 2, and didn’t make the conference game last year. Since the high water mark of the Sugar Bowl, 0-2 vs OU, 0-2 against TCU, while 2-0 against OSU for some forward progress.

Still, winning out most likely means a B12 championship which should be the standard for the year. We’ll see in the next month how it plays out.[/QUOTE]

So, if Texas sucks *** at the end of the year, it's because of Covid. If they somehow weasel their way to a Big XII Champeeeeenship, wouldn't it be because Covid prevented OU, the rightful dominated force in the conference, to win yet another Champeeeeensphip?
Last week it was they were having to work out of temporary quarters. This was in response to a question about everyone was facing COVID issues.

Beat Kansas and win 1of the last 2 and he won't get fired regardless of what happens in the bowl game. Fans wanting him fired isn't part of the equation.

Simply asked:

Given that OU is clearly down and the roster we knew we had prior to the season, is it so much to expect that UT should win the Big 12 this year AND defeat OU twice (assuming they make the championship game money grab for the league)?

I say the expectation is that this was the year relative to the fact that there are no superior teams in the league.

And if we don't win the Big 12 then I have to wonder why. We've had several posters argue that the off the field stuff has nothing to do with it. Ok, stipulating that, then what happened?

Coach Herman?

This won't sit well with some of you, but, if this>>> is true and he is safe, it is best for the program to let it go for now and get behind who we have in place...like it/love it or not. A piece on deflecting Meyer rumors including assertions (by TH w alleged support of CDC) that he is going nowhere. FWIW...

Herman: Refuting rumors to recruits 'exhausting'

I think this is correct. As I've said before, I don't want Tom fired unless he loses more than 3 games this year. While he has clearly (and severely) bungled fan and alumni relations (in a way that would make Mackovic blush), and I don't like all this political junk, as a coach he should be primarily judged by on-field performance. The jury's still out this year.

With its supposed talent level and, this is Texas's only chance apparently, OU being "down" this year, Texas should be undefeated. But, 2 losses, one to the very same OU and again to TCU. Wow.

Herman sucks as a coach. He needs to be gone.

Herman crying about how exhausting it is and how he has to deal with "Orangefans" just shows what a thin skinned crybaby he really is.

I can't believe anyone around here, well some posters here are crybabies too, still wants him as the head coach at Texas.

Texas could/should be undefeated. Normally I wouldn't like this kind of fan assertion, but, in this case...this year...it is absolutely true.

Don't forget the Tech win was a diving catch. But we can say, woulda' shoulda' all day long. We had the TCU game until the untimely fumble. But to paraphrase Ron Washington: "That's the way football go."

And another quote (Bill Parcells):

"You are what your record says you are."

Maybe "Winning IS hard."

I think he is correct that the swirling controversy makes it harder. I have no doubt.
But ..... its his fault this situation exists in the first place. This is year 4. He has had multiple top 5 recruiting classes and has a 4 year starter at QB.
There is no blame that can be assigned to orangefan.

When Herman is the head coach, that's undeniable.

He never assigned it to Orangefan.
I believe, from the beginning, it was JoeFan.

I don't disagree with this ^^^ at all...that is why I said I don't normally like the "we should be" anything talk. I've been one on here saying ..generally.. fans are unrealistic.
..and there's always a few games that could have gone "the other" way.
I just see a clearer case for this year being a wide open door we could have walked through. TCU is weak, ou game was right there for the taking from the get go and we faltered, we beat the other top 3 team in the conference, and I believe the remaining teams are just not very impressive. With covid and all other factors....all things considered..ou with a freshman QB, kstate losing starting qb now, Baylor down, isu at home, our experience and talent at key positions....those saying this should have been the year have a pretty strong case. Was about as "easy" of a road as you will see...but apparently not easy enough for us.
If we go to the CCG and redeem the ou loss...then it will be a successful season IMO... but it could have/shouldhave been more.
We are who our record says we are....we just should be someone else and what some other record says we are lol
;)

Personally I don’t have much use for coaches complaining about negative recruiting. Not only is it an age old part of the process, but I find it hard to believe that Texas coaches aren’t doing something similar. I’m sure it was mentioned to anyone thinking of going to Baylor that their coach was about to leave, and how much of a log jam it is at other schools at a position, etc.

For that matter, do you think Herman was 100% honest with Houston recruits right before he was hired by Texas, but prior to the deal being done and announced?

It’s a game everyone plays, and talking in detail about it is just whine talk.

His answer should have been “I understand the coach talk, as we haven’t delivered the conference championships that this school correctly expects. I feel we’ve made progress and are on the right track towards a B12 championship. This is a fanatics job with great fans and a world class school, and I hope to continue here as long as possible. There are always lots of rumors flying around in the world of recruiting, and it’s the game that everyone plays, us included”.

More winning and less whining would solve all these issues.

Yes, that would have been better. But I've also been around this board long enough to know that answer (or any other possible reasonable thing he could have said) wouldn't have changed any of the dialogue around here anyway.
