For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Urban Meyer supposedly touching base with assistants to gauge interest
2 current tOSU coaches (coombs & hartline) said they would stay where they are

Don't do this to me.
Hiring Urban is akin to barfing up an habanero but I've got some Promised Land milk in the fridge (have you ever tried that stuff? Fantastic!). I can do this.
In an insane world this is the sanest choice.
Don't get my hopes up like this.

Man, his defenses sucked, but I always liked him. True Longhorn.

I always thought it was funny and pathetic to hear a guy making millions per year saying that winning — the thing he is paid to do — is hard.

Are you not generously compensated to do hard things?

WOW! Shocking news.

What next? Confirmation of the rumor that Colt McCoy’s dad and Jordan Shipley’s dad were roommates in college?

Only question is what week did Chris supposedly do this?

Yeah, I can't imagine ever saying that to one of my clients. That would have resulted in my being shown the door, and fast!

All of this. These days I'm a welder and I had a recent mobile job that I think is pertinent to this conversation we're having now. I remember standing there with the woman who wanted to hire me and I'm looking at where the repair was and how cramped, difficult, and completely inconvenient in every way this was going to be. I knew without a doubt I was going to eat fire and slag in there for 20 minutes and come out with a few brand new 2nd degree burns at a minimum. It never once occurred to me to whine, "What you're asking me to do is going to be really hard and painful.".

"Yes, ma'am that repair will be no problem at all and I'd be happy to fix it for you right now today.". Shut up. Suck it up. Do your job and be a professional. :hookem:

Inside Texas thinks "silence is a good thing" with regard to Urban Meyer.
They claim a former HC with ties to UT said Meyer is possible.
They also think winning the Big 12 championship might not be enough.

Herman was right about Jackson in that basically he wasn't smart enough to play in Herman's system, or many other coaches' systems. Loserville was able to dumb down the offense for him to play in it.

Four years in Loserville and what has Jackson got? 12 hours of credit toward a degree, OR did he drive his fancy new car through the campus with the windows down and someone threw a diploma in the front seat?

Jackson isn't alone. That comment has made about multiple college QBs, including some that played at Texas.

But he is smart enough to play at an MVP level (although not this season) in the NFL? Not being sarcastic...perhaps his athleticism just bails him out more often than not.

Smartest thing ISU, KSU, KU and OU can do is lose to Texas....Yes it gives Texas the title you'd like to have, but the national title is not in play anyway, and it assures Herman stays at Texas.

The weird thing about that is Tom did offer and sign Cardale Jones ("We ain't come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS"), Braxton Miller, JT Barrett, and Greg Ward to play QB

Snippet from Inside Texas' Humidor

SCENARIO 1-3
The decision-makers are pragmatic and understand recruiting is sliding, but they won’t make a decision regarding the future of the head coach position off of that. The thinking is, if the head coach situation is worked out once and for all, recruiting will follow suit.

The AD is still struggling to raise money and that remains an essential point in deciding Tom Herman’s fate. He was brought to Texas to raise money and navigate difficult head coaching situations. Del Conte was brought to Texas for this exact moment and he understands that.

As crazy as it sounds, there is *some* discussion Herman wouldn’t be safe with a Big 12 Championship victory. We think that’s easier to say now, based on how people feel in November, than in December after raising the trophy with a dejected OU onlooking. But it does illustrate the hot water Herman currently finds himself, and if fundraising leading up to that game remains dire, then one of the major issues really isn’t fixed.

A loss to OU, should it occur, and the writing is seemingly on the wall. That would make Herman 1-5 versus the hated rival, with losses occurring on the headsets and in the week of prep as much as on the field.

Donor sources we talk to indicate Del Conte will have the financial support he needs even if the hire isn’t for Scenario #1(Urban Meyer).

We’ll concede Scenario #2 (Herman returning) is more likely than it was after the OU loss, but that isn’t to say it’s likely. That should be expected with the team being on a four-game winning streak. However, the decision-makers do understand the context of the winning streak and are receiving calls after ugly wins the same as after losses.

Everything on the Meyer front is quiet from direct donor and AD sources. We don’t think that’s a bad thing because Del Conte prefers to work in silence to the extent he can. We do know there has been misinformation given from the AD to donors, and high-level donors to mid-level donors. If you have enough sources you’re able to game out what is real and what isn’t.

Misinformation we’ve heard includes: whether a search for a search firm has been conducted (it has, though we don’t know the result), and whether donors are ready to help out financially, i.e., buyouts (they are).

We did hear that one former head coach with ties to UT does believe Urban to Texas is a possibility. ... To balance that, one of my best agent sources is skeptical Texas can pull off such a move given the climate and cost.

As far as Scenario #3 (a search beyond Meyer), we haven’t heard any names in a while. James Franklin was thought to have a chance very early on, but he’d be a terrible hire and is proving that now.

If a change is to be made, they’re all in on Scenario #1.

Not sure I follow you Joe. I guess it’s possible that Tom Herman thought all those other QBs were smart enough to play the position. What’s weird about that? (However wrong he may have been about LJ)

Michigan boosters want Urban Meyer too ...

Rumor: Influential Michigan Football boosters finalizing plan to pursue Urban Meyer
Last weekend’s loss to Indiana has sparked rumors that Michigan Football may be preparing to move on from the Jim Harbaugh era following this season

Numerous people with ties to Michigan Football, including a very influential booster, are rumored to be finalizing a plan to pursue Urban Meyer with hopes he’ll become the program’s next head coach in Ann Arbor.
According to a source that will remain nameless, the booster and other financial donors are preparing an offer that would make Meyer college football’s highest-paid coach. The offer is expected to be in the ballpark of roughly $12 million per season, which is higher than current contracts owned by both Harbaugh ($8M) and Alabama head coach Nick Saban ($9M).
