For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Brian Jones chimes in ...

According to CBS Sports college football analyst and former Texas linebacker Brian Jones, who was asked during an interview Thursday with Chad Hastings on Austin’s 104.9 FM The Horn if a move could happen as quickly as the end of the weekend in the event of a loss in Stillwater, the last Longhorn linebacker to wear No. 60 over a full season didn’t mince words.

“Yes, it could happen that quickly,” Jones said. “I'm hearing it's going to happen that quickly. Even if it doesn't happen, I'm hearing the die is cast, unfortunately.

Brian Jones sounds off on Tom Herman's future at Texas

Brian Jones has been one of if not my favorite ambassadors for Texas in the media. He reminds me an awful lot of Charles Barkley in that he will absolutely call it like he sees it. He doesn't suffer fools and he doesn't toe the party line if he disagrees with it. His criticisms of Mack Brown were spot on and provided great entertainment as Mack tried in vain to censor him. I truly hope he's right in what he said about Tom Herman. You keep being you, Brian. :hookem:

Sounds like the wheels are in motion, and you can't stop the train. Still hoping for a big victory over #6 OSU tomorrow.

Who is our next Coach Fran, here to save our day?

Are there any people in the house who don’t still wet the bed?

OSU stuck with their coach and he sends out good teams in spite of being Oklahoma’s version of Texas Tech. Same with TCU

this year has been a train wreck for almost everybody.
Off subject but has there ever been a black member of the so called Texas Cowboys? You know, those frats from rural Dallas and rural Houston?

So everyone is saying that part of the Ewers decommit is because Herman spoke bad about him to a couple of people and word got back to him and his family. He has been talking about reopening his recruitment but was not going to do it so soon. He was going to wait to see Texas end results on the season but once he heard that he decided to decommit now.

The Trey guy is a radio host who first reported this and would lose his job as well as all credibility if he lied about this so it's some truth to the story. Everyone thinks Herman knows he is about to be gone so he is trying to burn bridges before he leaves. I personally don't know him or his personality for me to say that but if he is doing so and he does lose his job then he will not coach anywhere ever again. The fact he talked bad about a recruit to begin with is shocking. Especially someone of Ewers caliber.
thanks for the translation. I couldn't have deciphered that.

Has there ever been a REAL COWBOY as a member of the so called Texas Cowboys ????

And so it passes

I am passing the hurry up and hire Urban phase
And am moving back into the phase where we just give up football altogether (which if you know anything about Title IX, means all sport). We are not any good at it any more. And if we cant be good at it, then we shouldn't do it at all
Our players hate us, hate the school, hate the school song
The band hates us, hates the school song
Why allow haters to stand on your shoulders?
It's a complete disaster
Why do we still even bother?
Spend your Saturdays out in nature, hunting or fishing
Or work on the house, learn a new language, read books, or travel (err, OK, maybe not that, maybe work on your cooking skills instead)

l’m with you on those thoughts. The players general rebellion and demands was bad enough, but Herman’s accusations and insulting degradation of the fans and boosters made the issue worse. The program lost my support when I saw Sam on the field, post game, horns up and alone singing “The Eyes” and no other players in sight. Couple that with the scenes of the “team” if we call them that, laughing and goofing off in the tunnel after a loss to our #1 rival OU. That’s despicable! Those guys are not a team I can or will support. I don’t understand why they and the HC are still here. So, as you pointed out, I will watch other college games from here on out. Tom needs to learn, he’s an employee and the reason he is paid the exorbitant salary is due of our continued support, donations, ticket and merchandise purchases. WE do not work for him. And WE can demand his dismissal. As such, this was the last year I purchased season tickets. All mine and my wife’s donations are redirected to the UT school of business and school of fine arts. I will keep up the Texas Exes and foundation support. But sports are now anathema, and I will no longer support them nor the Band. The band should be asked to turn in their uniforms and told to take a hike. I hope this disheartening situation gets turned around somehow, but I doubt it will. Just my two cents.

Chop,
I hope we win as well. If we don't win, I want okie lite to mud hole us. That should seal Th fate.

I imagine CDC pondering at night, while relaxing on his back patio with a Crown Royal in one hand and cigar in the other, just how simple life was in Ft Worth.
The UT job was challenging enough without all these externals being thrown into the mix.
I hope he has a dog, they can usually make things seem better

Joe Fan is right. CDC is probably thinking he should have stayed at TCU until another gig came open. I'm sure he will bolt the first chance he gets. Then again if he can rid us of Herman and replace him with a winner, he will cement himself well with helping to restore not only softball, maybe women's basketball, and FOOTBALL !!! Wow, that would be a legacy for him. We can only hope.

TH is almost certainly toast. it is just a matter of time. And I'm glad. Less for football results and more for his other issues.

I think it might be time for a different strategy for hiring a head coach. We always go into this with the attitude that "all the pieces are here, so you should be able to be in the CFP within 4 years". And we set our sights on the perceived 1-4 "hot" candidates at the moment....and here is the big fail....we write the biggest contract we can. To me, that is a recipe for failure. When we go into this by giving the new guy the biggest contract, we are almost assuring ourselves of disappointment and a feeling of perceived failure if the new guy isn't delivering by year 3. We are writing a big check immediately === we want to see big results IMMEDIATELY. We build up our expectations so high, that it is almost impossible for a new coach to live up to them.

Everybody knows that the checking account at UT is almost endless. We should go into this with the approach of looking at good coach, with experience, of high character, and a 6 yr horizon. we pay him a good, but not "top" salary, with the promise that winning will be handsomely rewarded. Not with 3 yr extensions (and the associated buy-outs) but with large real-time bonuses at the end of the season.

The lack of adjustments after the half is disappointing.

The o-line, what can be said?

The players have no energy... Last week they drag their butts off the field at half and come back and plant their butts on the bench after and drink Gatorade. The Bears showEd lots more energy though.

Herman Needs to Go

I like a strategy that brings in a proven winning coach like Urban Meyer to rebuild the program, and brings in another coach at the same time like Pat Narduzzi with a firmly defined transition to hand the reins to the coach-in-waiting.

Hopefully, they will not fire Herman before reaching an understanding with Stoops or Meyer. Hiring anyone else would be a waste of money.

Reading that made me wonder whether I would rather barf up a ghost pepper or an habanero. If we want to win anytime soon though we’re probably going to have to barf.

Urban Meyer supposedly touching base with assistants to gauge interest
2 current tOSU coaches (coombs & hartline) said they would stay where they are
