For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Since we made it through Friday with nothing, the FOX Pregame Show should be worth watching. Starts at 9am. Will FOX talking heads avoid the subject? They messed around with him a few weeks ago saying something about Austin which made for an awkward moment. If no one says says anything today, it will be because he asked them not to (he cannot announce he is taking a job that is not even open yet). But if they kid around with him again about it or do some type of obviously scripted Q&A, probably not a good sign for us

And we still got Larry on board

Latest rumor - 8 years @ $10M per
To save money and time couldn't we just bribe referees next year in every game to make sure we go undefeated, including the BCS championship game? I think we could get all that done for about 50 million.

Sabre could be our HC, Joe Fan could be both OC and DC plus the recruiting guru.

If Sabre had his own weekly football show to review game film and tell stories with Willie Nelson as his co host I guarantee it would be the most watched show in Texas and recruits would flock to play for them.

You left out Team Sommelier - and I expect quite the battle

I’d much rather take over a position where my predecessor under performed. I’ve found it a lot easier to get things done my way and shine when I’m fixing a problem.

Good point and maybe not one overlooked by Meyer. IF he takes the UT gig, he may think it will be his last HC position and it could be recognized as the best job turning around a struggling program. Furthermore winning a NC at 3 different programs - something no one else has ever done.

Freddy had a lot of talent, especially on defense
But those offenses would drive you nuts
I think the 1984 Longhorns still hold the record for most players drafted from one school in one draft (17 in 12 rounds)
Would’ve been Nat Champ in 83 season if Curry doesn’t touch that punt. From what I hear Akers told him - ‘don’t touch the ball’. He did, end of story.

Agree. If Urban is seriously considering the position or has accepted but not ready for the announcement, he probably confided with others on the show not to bring up the UT coaching buzz during the broadcast.

Is it true that Urban would love to stick it to Tom? To come in here, tell Tom, "Hold my beer," and the win a 3rd NC at a different school would be so personally satisfying. He would absolutely be hailed as one of the greatest of all time if not already. There is so much to this job that would seem to be an absolute magnet for him.

The only bit is whether or not the pressure from the BMD and Hornfans.com is too much to bear!

:)

Yup, I was there that cold day. At the time, I thought: I hope Akers or a coach tells the man back there not to try and field this punt (at the time I didn't pay attention to whom it was). Over the years I heard Akers did tell Curry not to catch the punt and rumors he didn't tell him anything.... Sabre may know for sure either way.

Even people who hate Texas- if they are honest- understand the competitive (possible) advantages Texas represents. I’d say Texas in its current disarray offers the perfect scenario for someone like Meyer. Personally, I’d much rather take over a position where my predecessor under performed. I’ve found it a lot easier to get things done my way and shine when I’m fixing a problem.
I’ve been with my organization 21 years
Took over 5 different groups- similar to UTs situations meaning they all had weak leadership.
Yes, simple stuff- get rid of charlatans, those marginal people on the fence understand they now have a choice, moral improves with the team, everyone wins- I look like a genius. I’m not- look I can’t spell moral correctly and finally gave up.

There TH , that’s free.next time you can’t allow young men’s who’s brains have not fully developed to give your boss an ultimatum and back them. They will loose respect for you both. So will your boss(the fans) Listen, understand , let em talk... but also understand the bigger picture and lead.

Quinn and Leinart just briefly mentioned the subject when talking about coaching changes 'Where's coach, where's coach, he'd better not leave us next year!' Kinda cringeworthy, but I'm glad Meyer stayed off-camera...

I think coaches of the caliber of Meyer and Saban have the stones to tell the BMD's to f off, I have a job to do here. The AD would have their back in that case. No comment about Hornfans! :whiteflag:

So, just over half your life at A or A+
Akers played two games for a national championship, so he had to be at least an A-

Then, the others are lousy.

You make a good point. Compared to other programs, I guess half my life with an A coach should make me grateful. Truth is, of course, both Royal and Mack had some C years in there.
As for Freddie, I can't give him an A. But obviously that's just my opinion. I'm not sure he ever played for two national championships. I see it more as one. Beating Georgia, as it turned out would have made us Number One. But if Nebraska doesn't lose later in the day on a failed two point conversion, we would still be number two. But that's splitting hairs in a bar room discussion.

If Freddy didn't want Curry to touch the punt, he shouldn't have put him back there.

Not directly addressing the “elephant in the room,” tells me:
A. He is enjoying needling Herman by perpetuating the rumors.
B. He is actually going to take the job or is under serious consideration.
C. Both of the above.

They make it sound like we care a lot about football in Texas.
I have never understood why Herbstreit has always held such a negative view of Texas. It has become a weird obsession. Acting like no one could ever be successful at Texas because of expectations is just stupid. First, we have had plenty of success around here. Second, are Texas fan expectations any different than his beloved tOSU or ND or OU or Auburn or UF or FSU or A&M etc? GTFO.

My impression was that the guys on the pre-game show were told not to discuss the Meyer to Texas talk. It sort of came up a couple times, and Quinn and Bush looked down grinning hard. I thought that was the tell. Then at the end, the state of the Michigan and Texas programs came up and one of them said Stoops sounded like he was applying for a job. Someone said something like, "He's coming for your spot coach." Meyer grinned, and that was it.

Anyone see anything else?

I thought the joke was someone was coming for his Fox job. Loved his reply about Reese Davis looking for the anchor’s spot.

That captures it. If he wasn’t then it would be squashed by him by now. He is not a current coach angling for an extension. I thought they were all coy and alluding to the obvious. The only rationale that doesn’t point to him coming here is that he just hates Herman that much and loves to watch him suffer and wants to make it crystal clear he could take his job.

Here is another one of those types
