TMT.....Bro, you are da man.....a whole lot of people on this thead (myself included) have been looking for that Stonie Clark pic. Classic!!!

Rugby,

Hook'em!!!

Wasparkhorn,
Thanks for those last two memorable pictures. I remember receiving that Sports Illustrated and loving the pix and short article inside, 'Texas Makes it Look Simple,' following No. 2 Texas' surprisingly easy win over No. 1 Oklahoma. (That was Oct. 12, 1963, I believe, three days after I turned 11--I watched the game on TV with my mother, while two of my older siblings saw it in the Cotton Bowl).
The next picture, of LBJ with Street and DKR, was taken after we beat Notre Dame 21-17 in the 1-1-70 Cotton Bowl to solidify our second national championship.

Yep, that's Ford, who was a junior that year. We beat the Frogs 14-0, some consolation for the monumental 6-0 upset from the year before. (The '61 game was the second Horn game I saw in person. All-American HB James Saxton was knocked out twice, and didn't remember the game later. We also were without Ray Poage, our fast and powerful fullback. TCU, a 24-pt. underdog, made three or four goal-line stands to deny us the national championship, as it turned out. Sportswriter Lou Maysel reported that on the last goal-line stand, the concussion-addled Saxton approached the first-down marker at the TCU four and had a clear alley to the end zone, but dropped the ball.)

Most fun I've had since I don't know when...Thanks to all who've been posting. Unfortunately the Stonie Clark pic ( I assume the stop vs OU) and the Knox Nunnally pic didn't come through on my computer. Almost all the others did. Any chance someone can try again on those? What a great way to relive some real memories!!!

Hello to all. Some great pics! I am wondering about something. There is a pic on the first page in this thread. One of your players, wearing #4 (Williams?), with the American flag, preceding the team onto the field. He is wearing a (burnt) orange jersey but it seems the rest of the team is in white that day (road game?). What gives? Very unique, and a dramatic pic.

A great summer fix... these were some great photos guys, alot of memories for me - thanks for sharing them. However, some photos were not shown and would not open? Only a red X and clicking on right side of mouse to try and open would not work on the half dozen I tried?

Caneinnyc, Roy and the offense wore Burnt Orange, the D wore white. Was the spring game after 911. Can't link it but someone in the UT football office told me the team elected Roy to carry the flag onto the field.
