Fall Camp

I dont know the context of the situation regarding your WR but if you’re carrying a handgun then you should have a round in the chamber. That’s the point of carrying it in the first place. You never know the situation you’re going to be put in and sometimes you don’t have the time to rack a round in the chamber. Most handguns have safeties to help prevent inadvertent firing and even for those that don’t, as long as you have them in a proper holster you shouldn’t need to worry about discharging the weapon unless you’re trying to do so.

What are you talking about? How many cops have their guns with a bullet in the chamber? Answer: They are not allowed. It's dangerous when the gun is holstered, how much more dangerous is it when you have it under your belt? Do you even know firearm safety?
And the second point, most handguns today don't have a safety. You know want the safety is? Don't pull the trigger, and don't chamber a round unless you are ready to pull the trigger. In the military, if you have a side arm and there is an accidental discharge, you could get court marshaled.

All police officers have a round chambered in their service weapons. Texas fans, is Austin Bill just a troll or is he this stupid?

Austin Bill is a good guy, he came to our cook out. I am not a cop but I own a Glock. I just choose not to engage in this conversation much. I don't know Police protocol per se. Josh Moore should not have been doing what he was doing and he did not have a CHL. I don't have one either and I use my Glock for home protection.

NOLA
No need to be so rude. You are a guest here.
Austin Bill may be wrong and he will admit it
But your remark is not appreciated.
Yeah, I was thinking Austin Bill might be mistaken about the chamber thing, but you’ve greatly missed the tenor of who Hornfans is. Austin Bill is 1: very very intelligent and 2: a very good guy.

We are glad you are here, but try yourself to be both of those things at the same time!

Again, glad to have you here.

Calling him stupid was harsh but trying to lecture someone on firearms safety when it’s painfully obvious you dont know much about the subject matter is a little ignorant. I apologize and won’t derail your fall camp thread any longer.

NOLA
You were right on the subject and your post shows you have character .
Thank you.
Don't stop posting
Especially now as the game is getting so close..
It wil make beating LSU all the sweeter:headbang:

I send similar posts all the time, but re-read them 5 seconds later to see if the edginess is really necessary to get the point across. 95% of my posts are self-edited within10 seconds.

My home defense weapon is a Remington 1100 because I don't have to be wide awake to hit what is causing the racket. It has a safety. It had a plug, but I misplaced after a pheasant hunt.

Hah, I lost my plug to my 12 gauge too. Then I went on a Dove Hunt a week or so later and guess who shows up? 3 Game Wardens. Lucky for me we have 50 hunters and the fields were 100 acres so they never checked my shotgun. But one walked close to me by a big Oak Tree and I went to one side of the Oak Tree opposite side he went. Whew! I bought the plug the next day and I have had it since.

NOLA keep posting your good. So is Austin Bill, good guy seriously.

AC, after I lost the plug I bought a double-barrel 12 for hunting as I could not remember hitting anything with that third shot anyway (told my wife that was my contribution to lowering our expenses).

Wow, this kid really gets it. Wow

“Growing up, I would have given anything for one day ... running down that field ... with my state on my chest and my family on my back ...” Mason Ramirez

This got me to thinking. How many teams uniforms offer this to a kid. State name on front, kid’s name on back.

I came up with Colorado and Hawaii. Who else?

Some of these may be a recent-but-not-current uniform, or may be merely one of several uniforms used, but some Googling reveals...

Alabama, if you count the "BAMA" at the top of the facemask.
Mississippi says "Ole Miss" on the front.
South Carolina says "Carolina" on the front.
UC Berkeley says "Cal" on the front.
Pennsylvania (the Ivy League, not Penn State) says "Penn".
Some of Oregon's many uniforms
Nevada
Idaho
Montana
Wyoming
Arizona
New Mexico
Utah
North Dakota
South Dakota
Kansas
Arkansas
Ohio
Indiana
Iowa
Kentucky
Maryland
UMass (yep, "Massachusetts")
Delaware
Maine
Hawaii

I love seeing these kids get rewarded with a scholly. They may not be “star” players but they show up and work and do their part to make the team better. Big respect for that. :hookem:

I was thinking just state name, no nickname, no abbreviations. Thanks for the list. More than I would have guessed!

Alright I spoke with 5 guys I know in Law enforcement
1 is a Sargent in Salt Lake City PD
1 is with Las Vegas PD
1 is a Sherriff in San Antonio
1 is with San Antonio PD
1 is with CIA

Every one of them say the same thing. a fire arm without a round in the chamber is considered an unloaded weapon. None of them carry an unloaded weapon. I am officially wrong on this. It's a weird feeling, being wrong. Now I know what my wife was always telling me but didn't believe.

All my weapons have safeties except my .357 revolver..I can draw my weapon and flip off the safety at the same time. All of them have a round in the chamber at all times. For some who commented about being in a particular place etc..... Folks...You don't know from whom, what, when, or where you may need your weapon to protect yourself , loved ones, or innocent strangers. Back in 1991 the people enjoying their meals at the Luby's in Killeen, Texas never fathomed what was about to happen to them.....as is true in all these crazy scenarios you read about. You must be prepared at all times..... No, you don't want to live your life fretting about such things, but you should always be aware and be prepared ( locked and loaded ). In a critical situation every second is valuable. I will not go into a store etc if it is posted "gun free", other than a post office, medical facility, or gov't office etc.... Don't break laws !!!! I take my business elsewhere if I can't carry . Do I ever plan to use my weapon ? I pray I never have to draw it or pull the trigger ( other than on the firing range ), but I treasure the right to be able to protect the innocent if the situation ever arises.
