Fall Camp

Hmmmmmmmm. Putting 2 and 2 together: The presence of Greg Davis at practices is like a force that invisibly pushes us towards his ideal of having no actual running game, but using the short passing game as the pseudo-running game. Stage 1 is to eliminate the RBs.

The dark side of the Greg Davis force could be in play with all these RB injuries.

These injuries are getting awful. I hope most of them are not serious and they're back by LSU, if not La Tech.

Roschon was my pick as the first guy to (temporarily) switch positions to an "emergency" RB. His HS film shows exceptional running ability as a QB. I'd consider giving Jake a look too--maybe cross-train Jake as a WR / RB...? Jake rushed for 741 yards as a Sr, and he rushed for 1,135 yards as a Jr.

Maybe we should have grabbed a grad transfer RB when we could

Wow, this kid really gets it. Wow

“Growing up, I would have given anything for one day ... running down that field ... with my state on my chest and my family on my back ...” Mason Ramirez

And now this kid may see the field in game situations...

We’re probably not going to agree on this one. That’s fine. Understand, I don’t want anything done to damper our new-found aggression and mean streak as a team. It’s the “sucker punch” (on your own teammate) aspect of this that bothers me.
I get that^^^. From my point of view I see it as just as important to never cut the knees, especially from the side, of your own teammates. In fact, I hate to see that done to anyone, on any team, ever. Knee injuries are killers for football players.

And please understand, I am not faulting the coaches for putting a player in the doghouse. If anything, I am wondering why the coaches would allow any player to cut the knees of another player, risking someone being out for the season. The game creates enough serious injuries when its played to perfection; no need to add risky plays like that to the mix. That is all.

My guess they will be holding Young and Ingram out of La Tech out of abundance of caution. However when La Tech becomes a blow out, they need to give JWhit a spell, so that is where Roschon comes in. My guess Ingram and Young will be ready for LSU.

Did they really move roshcon to rb or are people just talking madness
Roschon can get the job done as well as anyone who is not already a RB (and possibly not named Jake). The obvious danger is that we put our 3rd of 3 scholarship QBs in jeopardy...

Then again, it’s not like we’re going to feed him the ball 15 + times per game. I support this move by the staff, although it would be wise to also cross-train Jake and/or another WR, as we’re very deep there. Better yet, hopefully Ingram’s knee “tweak” is just that—a minor ding that’s good in a week or so.

The wildcat formation could also get very interesting.

This shows, imo, that we should put a little more focus on RB depth EVERY year. One elite RB and one suitable workhorse every class.

Yep. No doubt.

For 2020: Along with Bijan, we have multi-purpose athlete Hullaby who can play and has played RB. Hopefully we’ll also get Ty Jordan—same thing. Maybe another “true” RB is in order. A JC transfer is another possibility. We’ve been snake bit bad at this position.

MM in the green
Cant afford to lose him too for the season
Research reveals he does have some eligibility remaining

Need a blocker at RB at times. Young wasn't that so from that angle no change. Take one of the Freshmen LB's and tell him his scholarship depends on him making sure no one hits #11.

We could use TEs has blocking backs if we need to. I'm surprised we don't use Duverney as a RB or even his brother.

Here is a list of guys that can play running back in a pinch
Devin Duverney
Jake Smith
Roshon Johnson
D'Shawn Jamison
Donovan Duverney
Marcus Tillman
Chris Brown
AlVonte Woodard

Don't see practice, so have no idea....but....WTH are we doing at practice to get so many people dinged up and hurt ???? I have seen coaches allow some stupid crap to go on at practice during drill and scrimmage that is totally NOT necessary, that gets guys hurt.... I hope Herman and staff aren't those kinds of coaches !!!!!!!!!!

“Running backs in a pinch”, man that sounds really scary when you got LSU heading your way.

Just the opposite.

All these guys we know can carry the rock, LSU as no film on them as runningbacks so they won't know how to prepare for them.

Think of it like this. QB gets hurt and back up comes in and has all kinds of success mostly because the defense practiced for one QB and weren't ready for the backup.

You can add me to that list. I can definitely play RB in a Pinch. I guarantee .5 YPC.

Sounds like a little bit of wishful thinking to me
