Fall Camp

Wholeheartedly agree on Beck, though I think we are generally getting stronger at that position.
Anybody know who is the frontrunner at this point to start there?
Ok Beck solid/good but not irreplaceable. I feel very good about our TEs for the next 4 years. I am concerned about LB however. Sure hope Floyd can play next year but health/life comes first.

No coach is irreplaceable, but Beck is a very high level recruiter, not just QB but his hit rate on any position is incredible. His ability to develop QBs has been amazing, I highly doubt Sam would be close to as good as he is without Beck. His play calling has been suspect, but it's nothing that can't be fixed.

Austin Bill - This is the Beck we're talking about.

This one is a good musician. Saw him back up for U2 once.
But this thread was about Andrew Beck.

Glad I could help.

Lol, thanks for catching me up. I loved Beck (the TE), but you are right as a player he is very replaceable, but he is much harder to replace in the locker room.

Austin Bill - Just messin with ya. That was a good concert with Beck, you should see him if you get a chance. I hope Cade Brewer and Reese Lateo get plenty of looks at TE. Both should be better offensive threats than Andrew Beck was, blocking maybe not.

Caden Sterns “rolled his ankle.”
Keaontay Ingram “tweaked his knee.”
But “the on-field evaluations looked promising.”

Which also means we are currently down to only two healthy scholarship RBs -- Whittington and Young.
Coach Herman said WR Jake Smith is a possible choice “but it would be unfair” to move him right now.

I really think the main reason Herman didn't push harder at a transfer RB is that, though he obviously isnt opposed to going the juco/transfer route at a position, he didn't want to discourage new recruits or future potential ones. Do it a few times...no problems...make it a rule and some of these young bucks might balk. If true... I'm not saying it should be that way...just saying...
The talent was apparently somewhat thin, too...so there's that.

Hopefully this formal medical diagnosis that Ingram “tweaked” his knee turns out to be a very minor ding and not enough to sideline him for more than a week or less.

If not...

J Whitt is the man.
Danny Young practices holding onto the ball (otherwise he’s a pretty decent RB)
People temporarily move positions—candidates for an emergency temporary move: Roschon, Jake, ?
BJ Foster or a return man play both ways.
(All of this only if really necessary of course)

Re: Roschon. His HS film reveals extraordinary quickness and running ability. If Whitt can transition... The pitch to him is he can hit the field with quality playing time as a true Freshman, and hopefully just play in up to four games so he keeps his redshirt. After the emergency is over, he moves back to QB unless he wants to stay at RB.

With Daniel Young, I don't think it's a matter of not holding the ball correctly. It's staying on his feet and fighting for that last 6 inches when he has 3 defenders on him.
