Ewers

Ewer is essentially a true freshman by age and he was going to have a day like yesterday at some point this year particularly in his first ever true road game as a starter in a very difficult place where at beginning of year literally everyone chalked up a Texas loss.

I totally agree with this.

I am ok with him staying in the game, I don't think Card would have made a difference so this isn't sacrificing a win to get a freshman true road adversity experience,

I don't agree with this at all. Card is throwing at 69%. Ewers was at 32% at one point in the 3rd quarter. Preserve the win.

That wind would have hurt Card too. I would have gone screens, short passes, and a lot more running with some wildcat mixed in. The deep ball was’nt happening in 25 mph wind!

Ewers was in a trance, saw that in the second throw. He was psyched out or maybe he isn’t that accurate after all. If we played Card we probably win and have a QB controversy, but we are odds on favorite to make it to the CCG.
Now all those goals are down the tubes and at best we go to a lame bowl. Thanks Sark for being hard headed.

Ewers had a bad game. He is a freshman in playing time. Nothing more nothing less.

Sark needs to mature as a head coach. When it’s obvious a player is having a bad day, you pull him and try something different, even if you put him back in later.

Most of all, Sark and the coaches need to figure out how to make second half adjustments. A good head coach could have won that game with Murphy getting his first snaps.

Wonder what the Mannings think when they see how an ultra talented 19 yr old gets treated after a bad game , gets accused of not caring, being high, insinuating he threw the game. This coming from adult educated men who likely have or had kids.

Honestly doubt anyone takes us posters very seriously.

This entire thread needs to be deleted from the interweb forever. Some folks need to get a grip on life.
Agreed. Apparently, there are only a few of us on here less skilled than any of the coaching staff or incapable of reading minds.
Also, if i’m recruiting against Texas I am copying this and showing to everyone we are attempting to recruit.

Hey, I thought my being high joke was pretty good.

And that's exactly the type game that Sark calls when Card is in there.

You better hope the Poop Patrol is still sleeping :smile1:

So now a lot of posters think the Horns would have won with Card, just like the Tech game. Another fine example of one coaching staff making halftime adjustments and our coaching staff being content with nursing a lead.

I don't know if Texas woulda won with Card, nobody does. But 1 thing I do know is that is you're #1 QB is having about the worst performance in history, a former starter at least deserves a chance.

the thing is we have seen Ewers be accurate with his throws. But Saturday he was noticeably and severely inaccuratetime after time, to the point where it looked awfully suspicious.. I am not ready to say he was bought without any evidence. But he shouldhavebeenpulled that's for sure and way before the 4th q began.

let's just say the hostile environment had his nads in a vice grip much like Card at Arkansas last year.
we can now say both Card and Ewers had a hell game in a rough environment and not just lay that on Card.
we armchair qbs have little to no understanding of the amount of pressure on these qbs in rough environments. it's a lessened learned.
I would like to give Sark a piece of my mind however. He didn't just fumble the ball, he picked up the ball and ran the ball the wrong way for a safety.

Giving up 41 points didn't help. Allowing constant conversions of 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 9 didn't help.
the defense did its part well enough to win. we punted 8 times and if Sark had pulled Ewers like he should have maybe we punt two or 3 times less which would have been a big differencein the outcome. this loss is on Sark!

Worst performance in history?? In history of what? The Arkansas game last year? Anyway, a starting QB rarely gets benched in a close game. Now, just think if he would have put Card in and he stunk it up and the Horns still lost. What would have been the rhetoric then. Just saying, that I think the main reason, the Horns have lost so many games these last two years has been failure to make any type of counter adjustments by the coaching staff. Bijan starts almost every game like gangbusters and the running game goes flat in the second half.

I felt some of his passes were on Worthy who did not appear to adjust well to the ball. Was it the wind? I wasn't even aware wind was a factor when I watched the game. But it was very odd where the ball would end up versus where the receive actually was.

I thought Ewers was very accurate in previous games so I was a bit shocked at what was happening.

Yes, he's very young. He's the same age as my daughter and to think that nothing affects these kids is to be a bit high on our expectation levels. When did Vince blossom? After how many games? Same with Colt. Look at Chris Simms. Major pedigree. Cannon arm. Playing QB is hard.

That last one was my quote, not Herman's. Ha...

Poms,I agree with you that the passing game looked very suspicious. Something was wrong with Ewers. Way too many overthrown passes. You dont have a good defense when 41 points is scored on them. Secondary was porous. DL did a fair job.

I must be reading a different thread than some of you. Hardly anybody is saying he's garbage, he sucks, hope he transfers, screw him, I hate him, bench him for the year. Mostly people are saying he had a really bad game and Card should have come in relief for this game. Like Mock in 2003, where VY still started the next game after we beat Texas Tech.

I also disagree that even on the road, it's OK for a team to need to score 42+ or lose.

Also, if i’m recruiting against Texas I am copying this and showing to everyone we are attempting to recruit.

This is one of the more reasonable message boards out there. Have you seen Texags, Dirtburglers, etc. Our nastiest threads wouldn't even make the bottom 25% at the latter in particular.

To accuse a kid of throwing a game or being high or not giving a **** is despicable.
Hopefully our recruits don’t read any if this garbage. There are also a few expert offensive coordinators that should be employed by the nfl.
The negativity on this board by a small few is ridiculous and it’s not just after a loss when everyone is disappointed. It starts early in the game with constant bitching and negative comments throughout the game. Like home brew said get a grip on life and take ur meds before next game.

Card vs piggy - Comp: 53% Int: 0
Ewers vs okie lite - Comp: 39% Int: 3

You must have failed math, and didn't notice VY and Chris Simms getting replaced in close games. And some guy said doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is kinda crazy. Don't know who it was.
