Ewers Tweet… anyone know sumthin?

OB says that all their inside sources say Card will be named the starter. Ewers hasn’t mastered the offense.

Been my gut feeling for awhile.
Just reading between the lines.

Apparently my sources talked to OB because they told me the same.

Glad you guys posted to balance out my own conjecture. All this makes sense, too...and could very well be the case.
Heck, what do I know? I just made a case on a thread somewhere yesterday for Card and here I wake up a day later with a case for Ewers.
I was just thinking some things that may weigh on a 2nd year warm seated coach's mind. Too many variables us fans dont know to possibly know. I do know...regardless of what I said about the Ewers case...He better make the decision purely based on who has best confidence and mastery of what is needed right now in this offense at the beginning of this season.

I think Sark is all about starting the player that gives him the best chance to win now.

You mean Casey Thompson? Oh wait...
Card won his first game.
And by the way, after the season was over, Sark said that was the most complete game the team had played all year.
When Card stumbled Sark had no problem replacing him.
Plus he had way less time to evaluate the players last year.
And if his decision turns out to be wrong this year I'm sure he'll have no problem replacing them as well.

Sark needs to be fired "NOW" before Hudson makes him look like an idiot on Sep. 10!!

Seriously, as much as I would love to see the talent of Ewers ready to go, it's actually a little silly to think a guy who hasn't played any meaningful football in 2 years and never played a meaningful down of college football to be ready to take the reins against a top 25 team anytime on the next couple of months. Can we just let the guy develop?

Well...looks like we have a concensus...
Card will get the start.
I'll call Sark and let him know what he is going to do.

Glad I save my money and don't pay for OB subscription. They clearly swung and miss on the Card implications in that article. I think the decision is like most things in life- just follow the money. Ewers wasn't paid to come here and ride the pine.

Coach takes the all-things-considered approach described in section 1 Q point A of this thread.

We are going to see high highs and low lows, fellas. Gonna be a wild, fun, frustrating and (hopefully) rewarding ride that hopefully gets better as it goes and turns into something special.
Wish Quinn (and Card) all the best.

Hey, Quinn....
Here's lookin' at you, Brah. Hook'em.
:hookem:

By the way, I was at a public school speaking today and about 1/10th of the male population had big bad mullets.

My 10 year old grandson is sporting one now, or trying to grow one. After he learns about this he’s going to be excited.

I certainly thought it would be Card starting.
Well yours has a couple of weeks to get ready.
Sark says he doesn't want to rotate QB's because the quarterback won't get into the flow.
Wonder what Card thinks about that from last year.
Transfer Ewers lands Longhorns' starting QB job
Good point on rotation.
Part of my thinking was he doesn't want to rotate and wants to go long here...maybe couldn't see Card holding Qb1 all year and Quinn not playing so went this way to hopefully avoid it.

I see Texas gets roughly 24+ ahead in the 4th quarter Card comes in..,,,
Like Jaydon Blue, FR OL , etc

Take the over on the Bama game if Ewer starts. Sark likely okay with struggles in 1st half of season.

I don't know, and I'm not asking anyone in Travis County, but if Ewers "tweet" yesterday was referencing this announcement, I am really pissed off. I had a president that acted like a clown and lost his reelection bid in no small part because he couldn't keep from acting like a 13 yr old girl on the twitter account. If Ewers did indeed do that, Sark needs to shut down his twitter account and take his phone away. (Is twitter phone only?)

As for Mr Card, I believe he would be much better starting under center. The drop back gives him an opportunity to see the field and read the defense, which he cannot do while looking for the ball. That may (or may not) allow him to release the ball more quickly, which is my biggest problem with him.

Take it as you will; Sark gets paid $6 million a year to assess that while I have pay five figures to watch. Think maybe Sark lost my number to call and get my opinion?

Maybe he’s just an over excited kid. Sure that may play into your synapsis but I’d be hyper excited too.
