Ewers is not participating in Senior ceremonies…

I deleted my post; I apologize for my bad attitude. Please forgive me; this board isn’t about being right or wrong, which I have had trouble remembering lately. It’s all on me. Please carry on.

Thanks VY, for your classy response.

I was thinking about our back-and-forth last night and thought you might enjoy this story.

My former boss in Dallas attends every Southlake Carroll game. His daughter went to high school with Riley Dodge, the Dragons current head coach, and the head coach when Quinn was playing. Dodge and Craig’s daughter were fairly close friends in HS. My former boss has also sat alongside Quinn‘s parents during at least one SLC game.

“Craig” (a huge tOSU fan) loves to troll me when I complain about QE. In fact, he has been known on our group chats during the games to say things like, “are you suggesting that Sark be fired on the spot for his decisions regarding Quinn,” or, “apparently you know more about head coaching than Sark does.”

For the first time last Saturday, Craig actually agreed with me and everyone else on the chat, and expressed surprise that Sark had not replaced Quinn after it became apparent that he was completely immobile, and injured.

Nailed it, Horns11. It seems very clear that the reins of the offense go to Arch next season.
That worked out well for Dillon G. (I think 4 new OL and no returning TE's helped make his decision too). Oregon will be throwing around some NIL money in Jan/Feb too and QE would be a get.

Funny that there was a large portion of Sooners who were happy for DG to move on and start the golden era of the Jackson Arnold. Arnold will likely be a NIL QB this year.

Colt McCoy. 4 years; 45-8 record. 70.3% completion; 112 TDs 45 Interceptions; 7.1 per attempt ; 92 sacks; 155 rating

Quinn Ewers, 3 years; 24-7 record ; 65.3 % completion; 61 TDs 19 interceptions; 8.0 per attempt; 54 sacks; 148.8 rating

Just for discussion….

Colt redshirted - Ewers never did, noting however that Ewers spent his HS senior year in Columbus.

Yeah, it’s hard to compare these things, but maybe it’s interesting. For example, McCoy was more likely to get sacked or throw an interception, which maybe people don’t think of when watching Ewers.

If we're going to compare overall starting QB success for Texas QB's since VY, QE would be ranked higher than everyone except VY and Colt, but that's not necessarily the compliment that people might take it for.

For me, it comes down to a handful of things that have kept pretty much every Texas Longhorn QB from having NFL success:
1. Inability to get better at footwork throughout college. Colt was probably the best at this (and also had the longest NFL career).
2. Lack of a strong arm (everyone going back to Simms).
3. Protecting the ball in important situations (QE might be 2nd worst at this next to Ehlinger).
4. Ability to scramble - QE might be ranked right around Case McCoy in this category.

College quarterbacks often don't have the physical talents/capabilities for the next level. It usually comes down to arm strength and ability to read the defenses. Just OU QB's since 2000 I can think of Heupel, Landry Jones, Jason White, come to mind. I didn't think Jalen Hurts would make it as a starter but I'm being proven wrong. Colt falls into that to me. Gamer and a winner but they need more arm speed. Ehlinger seems more like Tebow that he relied so much on his physical strength to succeed and you can't do that at the next level, but for Hurts it seems.
