"Embrace the hate!"

The rest of the PAC hated USC (while there was a viable PAC)

The rest of the SEC hates Alabama

The rest of the B1G hates both Michigan and Ohio State

The rest of the country hates ND

The rest of the teams in our conference hate us.

Anybody spot a trend...

Let 'em hate from their sofa...we are the NY Yankees of college football. You either love us or hate us... nothing in between.

Now, silence their smart asses: go out and WIN !!!

There is no better way to get back at small people spewing hate than to laugh at them and ridicule them. “Embrace the Hate”. And while we are at it, “Up Yours” with your attempt to ridicule with your Down Horns sh-t. Haters all over the country seem to think that is fine. Can’t take a little “back at you”?

Chinstrap, these are not small people. They don't see themselves that way. They are Small-Minded but powerful with the support of the Media and some Official Agencies. There is the true danger.

Why is everything turned into a race issue? I would bet not a single parent of a student at UT was even born during that time. How could anyone be offended at something said 60 years ago when it has absolutely nothing to do with that?

You are correct. My comment was of a general nature. It is small to let your envy manifest itself in hate, no matter your position in society. Or to live with hate no matter the reason. The media lost their way long ago. Texans take a lot of crap from many all over the country and Longhorns have an even bigger target on their back. Embrace the hate and move on.

Are we supposed to be a shrinking violet? F NO.

I fully expect for Yormack & Weiser to instruct the referees to err on the side of our opponents. (That’s a soft way of saying, to cheat, even more than usual.) While this is nothing new, I expect it to reach epidemic proportions this season if we don’t take preemptive measures.

For that reason, I believe that CDC & Eltife need to get out in front of this predictable and problematic behavior. Prior to the first conference game, they should go on record, PUBLICLY, expressing concern about the integrity of the officiating this season.

“Commissioner Yarmack recently made a public comment expressing a preference for one of our conference opponents this season. The comment was clearly not appropriate. This indiscretion, to put his thumb on the scale, even if the comment was made in jest, has us concerned. We fully expect that for the integrity of the conference, the officiating in each of our games in this final season will be completely objective and without bias.”

ESPN & Fox will pick it up, and that’s exactly what I want to see. Sure, we will be criticized, but also the league office will be on notice. Get it out there. In my judgment, this should not be done behind closed doors. Doing that will accomplish absolutely nothing.

We should absolutely Embrace The Hate, and drill each conference opponent into the ground for four quarters, letting up only on OU, and only late in the game.

As a Texan, I've gotten used to this mindset. Still don't understand it but have learned to use it in negotiations. Many from the North and Northeast think we are hicks and hayseeds. Good. I want to be underestimated. I win almost all of my negotiations that way and for the rest, I get 90% or more of what I want.

Don't Mess With Texans.

I love this shirt. Will be buying 2 (one for me and one for grandson)

The older I get, the more bizarre opinions seem to appear.

My guess is multiple groups will print like Tshirts for their causes. The people panning the shirt are probably just mad they didn’t think of it first. Hopefully Texas got a trademark.

I'm on both sides here.

I like to be on the white hat team, metaphorically speaking. I want us to live above the fray. Not behind closed doors where we talk about it and know which scores to settle, but to the public.

But why look at this phrase and turn it into a PC issue, when it's obviously about how a team deals with outside criticism? Makes no sense.

Like the article said, sark gave the same "we embrace the hate " speech before the tech game. That didn't end well. If you're going to talk **** you'd better back it up. Sark didn't. Sark can't

Fk, we lost 5 games last season. Can we at least take a page from DKR and be humble after bad seasons, keep our mouths shut, work to be prominent again? We've done nothing since 2009

I applaud that sentiment Horn2 but still admit I like the shirt but would like it better if my faith was higher on our following through. We are all pumped this year but, if my often failing memory serves me correctly, so we’re we every year at this time. Sigh.
Just win baby - Hookem.

While there is no doubt that optimism is the norm at this time of year, it’s also hard to argue with the caliber of talent and depth this team possesses. Reluctant national pundits seem to be conceding that Texas should be in the conversation this year. And again, this is the first time since (I believe) 2009 or 2010 that we have been picked by the writers to win the Big 12.

Virtually all of the “Texas” pundits believe that 9 wins is the floor. All of the mods at IT (7 of them) have it 10-2, which I believe to be conservative. So realistically, for the first time in over a decade, I think we “genuinely” have reason to be optimistic. Could we be disappointed? Absolutely. But I don’t think it’s going to happen this year.

My biggest concern, apart from acknowledging the few places where our roster is thin, is that we haven't been big winners in so long. Teams have to learn how to win, they have to learn the mindset associated with expecting to win. It's not waltzing in and saying "We're Texas" and expecting the other guys to roll over for us. God knows that approach doesn't work. It's putting in the work to be supremely prepared, and utterly confident when you're down to, say, 4th and 17, knowing you're going to pull it out. I worry what this team's mindset will be in the face of that type of adversity, because we will experience it during the season.

Most of the world hates the United States

Lubbock hates Austin

Austin Independent School District hates Westlake

Losers hate winners

Hate is the only path for a frustrated loser and since the Longhorn Nation can’t possibly stop the hate then all we can do is accept the reality. The negative becomes positive.

“I got a letter from the commissioner about sportsmanship the day before that speech. So I’m trying to figure out what are we promoting to our student-athletes and then to go say those types of things.

If this is true then Yorkmark is a &*%$.
The media should be all over this, but they won't for the same reason they aren't all over other hypocrisy.

On December 7 1941 Americans hated the Japanese. Turned out to be good motivation. It works

The only problem I have with that is sometimes it motivates people to try to be a hero and do too much resulting in penalties and turnovers. Gotta play with a cool head too. At least FB players won't get killed trying to be a hero.

Well, at least we got a fair warning. Better to know now than later that we are getting screwed.
