Election Day

Lot's of bad blood between the key players of the Trump and Clinton campaigns. I'm surprised they got these big names to this conference. It must be a right of passage for the campaigns. Clearly neither side has gotten past the campaign animosity.

Both sides have valid beefs. HRC was a horrible candidate and the nod and wink to the alt-right by the Trump side was obvious.

The US House in the Obama years
There have been 4 elections since he won '08
Only '12 (#ThanksRomney) was + for Dems
Whereas they got killed in '10, '14 and '16

So it was foretold, so it will be done

I would be fine with Ted Cruz SCOTUS nom

If Trump wants to advance him, he has to do it with this first choice, he cannot wait.
The other Senators dont like Cruz much, so Trump will have to do it while he has a lot of politcal capital to spend
Important to get this first pick right. Cruz would toe the Scalia line. And he would make oral arguments much more interesting

"damage was caused by a $950,000 bottle of champagne that was believed to have been thrown at the screen by the former presidential candidate some time during the election."

I thought I was splurging by buying the occasional €140 bottle of Dom Pérignon. Thanks for making me feel like a cheap bastard.

That assumes the article is accurate. It seems so outrageous that it should be questioned. It has all the hot buttons...opulence, Clinton Foundation involvement, foreign government involvement (SA).

Agree but I bet Hillary is in rehab in 4 years.

I was making a joke. I don't know if there's any truth to the article.

The most expensive wines in the world cost under $25k for a 750ml bottle. The only exceptions are wines that are sold as collectors' items due to historical significance (e.g. long-since-spoiled bottles from Thomas Jefferson's private collection), and over-sized bottles that couldn't possibly be thrown by the average Joe, much less a 70+ year old lady. Link.

How about champagne specifically like was mentioned in the article???

1. Goût de Diamants, Taste of Diamonds
Average price: $1.8 million
Come for the Champagne, stay for the sexy Alexander Amosu-designed bottle, which includes a 19-karat diamond and your name engraved in gold. It's excess, embodied.

2. Shipwrecked 1907 Heidsieck
Average price: $275,000
Two thousand bottles were found at the bottom of the ocean in a ship -- destroyed by a German sub -- en route to the grand halls of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. They're now sold at auctions across the globe to collectors who presumably want to party like rock tsars
