Dumb Political Correctness

Apparently the Band formerly known trademarked Lady A and Lady Antebellum years ago.
The black singer tried to hit them up for 10 million which is when they sued

Penn State was forced to quickly retract this tweet
Why?
Because of the part that reads:

“Dear conservative students. Your viewpoints are important”

This is pretty good
Professor John Ellis on political polarity on college campuses
He's been a prof for 50 years -- says something like that in 1990 the liberal to conservative professor ratio was 3:2 or 4:2, then in early 2000s it was 10:1, now its 50:1

The Cancel Culture people are also trying to get Tucker Carlson kicked off the air
Which was only a matter of time I guess
These people spend alot of time calling anyone who disagrees with them on any topic Nazis and Fascists
But if you look at actual behavior, they are the ones who behave like the Brownshirts
They physically assault
They take and destroy property
They burn books
They constantly attempt to shut down dissent and silence other people
They get speakers banned, get people fired, cancel shows - it is the modern equivalent of making people they do not like wear a star of david.
They will be loading us into railroad cars soon enough

They have a "hit list"

In other news, employees at Chevy's newly formed police car manufacturing plant recommend that Ford employees cut off their own di-ks in order to prevent possible future rapes.

Doesn't take much spine to have common sense. If he would have said "Ford is building new police cruisers with spinning saw blades on the front of the cars to dissect rioters", that would be a spine.
"Due to a problem with our supply chain, the first run of these vehicles will, alas, only be equipped with a large snow-plow blade. We hope that agencies will still find this necessary accessory to be useful in their agency's mission of keeping the streets clear and driveable."

I think all of this is stupid as hell. Police should investigate sexual assault allegations, not Maoist university panels. However, I'm sure they assume that if the dude could get it up and "perform," he probably wasn't overly impaired.

Either way, it's just another example of why it's stupid to casually hop in the sack with somebody whether you're drunk or not. I know we don't teach young people the immorality of it anymore, but you'd think we'd at least teach them why it's bad judgment.

I already had to worry about prostate and testicular cancer. Now I have to worry about cervical cancer too? And all this time I assumed I didn't even have a cervix. How wrong I was.

Wait! An LBGT+ site is anti-lesbian?

Yes, they are, because they think gals like mb should be willing to hook up with dudes just because they put on a dress and some makeup. Of course, they're also anti-straight guy because they think you and I should be willing to hook up with dudes just because they put on a dress and makeup.

I wait with bated breathe for "The Martin Luther King Story" starring James Woods

I read the other day that the crazy beautiful Halle Berry dropped herself out of a transgender role because trans activists were ripping her and Hollywood for not being on point with the actor.

But it's cool to have black actors playing white people.

It's a F'd up world. And that's because it's become so politicized. What we are seeing is too many people who take politicians seriously and transferring something that is not real or consistent to their own lives.

Hence the F'd upness...

I think she sounds perfect for that role

The question I have is this: Why do they give out awards for acting? What is the point if someone plays themselves? Sure, there is some pretend involved due to plots that don't match up to their personal life but reserving each role to a specific type (race, gender) then narrows the skill-set a bit.

If a transgender actor played the part of a heterosexual and nailed it, then I'd be just as impressed as if it where a heterosexual actor playing it.

But having black people play historical white people seems a bit of a stretch. Just like having a heterosexual man play a gay Jesus.

In the end, what's the point of a movie? Entertainment? A challenge? Information? Affirmative Action?

You make good points
My solution to the other issues is always a simple one, that everyone can and should follow. The same rules should apply to everyone. Whatever the rules is, it has to be applied fairly and equitably. This rule is such a good one, it is even mentioned in the Constitution. And get this, it is not only mentioned once, but twice! Imagine that.

But sadly, while it exists on paper, it obviously does not exist in practice, as you mention. And, until it does, out little country will keep tripping over itself.

It should be merit based. I think that's what you're saying. And yes, it should be equitable; no favorites or couch auditions.

And speaking of auditions; what is that about anymore. Could Halle Berry not have nailed the part? In the end, we're looking for some realism and an actor that can deliver.

Of course, Halle Berry brings in paying customers who like her. It's still a business and the "labor fairness" conflicts with ticket sales. It just does. Movies with big stars sell. It's a known fact.
