lmao @ 'Black Columnist.'

Incredibly weak to hide your irrational bigotry with the use of the term.

You should consider that some of us actually know who Erik Rush is, and what he stands for.

Your attempt to give him some greater value by summarizing him merely as a 'Black Columnist' is a failure.

This reminds me of the guy who got his panties in a wad about Barack's comment about wanting to see Bill dance before commenting on his blackness. The desperation coming out of some the folks on the right is comical, reminds me of being a democrat for the last 5 yrs.

barack thinks there are more real, important ways to be patriotic than putting your hand somewhere when the anthem is on.

what a weirdo.

We sang the National Anthem in my elementary school all six years I attended. We never put our hands on our hearts for the anthem. For the Pledge of Allegiance, yes, but never for the anthem.

I agree with Jim Bouton:

In Ball Fouir, he wrote that he was "troubled by the stiff-minded emphasis on the flag that grips much of the country these days. A flag, after all, is still only a cloth symbol. You don't show patriotism by showing blank-eyed love for a bit of cloth. And you can be deeply patriotic without covering your car with flag decals."

I am not bothered one bit by Obama not putting his hand over his heart for the anthem.

Care to explain why you have a problem with a black church being committed to helping Africans?

I think the hand over the heart thing is a relatively new thing. I'm 40 and growing up, I was told to not put my hand over my heart for the national anthem. That was reserved for the pledge of allegiance. So, today still, I stand respectively facing the flag, with my hands crossed in front or in back of me for the anthem. If you confuse how someone stands for the anthem with patriotism, you are missing the point.

4th & 5,
Your fixation on this video is kinda odd to me. I'm pretty darn conservative, never voted for anyone other a Republican presidential candidate (mixed my votes elsewhere, but still probably at least 70% Republican), and saw nothing even remotely offensive in the video. Until the last few years, I never held my hand over my heart for the National Anthem, only for the Pledge. I went to Christian schools my whole life, and that's how we learned it - hand over heart for Pledge only. Also, in the video I notice that Obama appears to be smiling and singing somewhat enthusiastically, at least at times, which I can't say about the others in the video. I really think you're stretching wildly to find something to criticize.

Apparently it's only compassionate conservatism if it goes to Americans. If it goes to Africans it makes the givers strange, weird, or evil.

Oh God? Good luck with your next JFK. He will probably win because of his shallow charisma.

I personally like the guy and take offense at some of you insinuating that I am a racist or a bigot. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'd vote for Condi Rice or J.C. Watts in a heartbeat.

If McCain get's the GOP nomination I will stay home on election day. I guess I hate white old people too?

Wow, what a thread. And it started because he didn't put his hand on his heart during the national anthem?

I served in the USAF and will stand for the national anthem and even take off my hat. I don't usually put my hand on my heart. I guess I am a poor american.

I'm pretty sure I never called you racist or a bigot. Though I'm only further confused now that you say you like the guy, despite starting a thread titled "don't trust Obama". Do you tend to like a lot of people you find untrustworthy?

Stupid thread......find something better.

The evil Clintons have given you mountains of their evil deeds and devotion to themselves (not our country) and you focus on this.
