Cutoff for championship tickets?

Called LHF this morning and they're saying they expect the runout to be at $1,500 and aren't sure if they'll be able to cover all that gave $1,500 - which would require deferral to lifetime giving for those at that level. They said there are 14,000 tickets to sell in response to $32,000 requests.

I thought we got 19,0000 allotted tickets. They are only selling 14,000.... so we used 5,000 tickets on the band and friends and family??

In 2005 students got 10% of the allotment, which would take 19,000 down to 17,100...that's still another 3,100 that somehow didn't make it to the organization that claims to be top priority on filling ticket requests. You would think it might be public information as to where these 3,100 tickets went...our band ain't that damn big...

One of these days someone is going to file a Freedom of
Information demand to see exactly who gets what and the
poo poo is likely to hit the circular ventilation device.

Unfortunately, donations to educational institutions are exempt from Texas' open records laws. But yeah, I wish there were a way for someone to get their hands on the list.

Derek... is the LF actually an educational institution? I
thought these funds were entirely separate from the
school's money.

The issue (ie where tickets just 'vanish') is in the amount of tickets that don't go to the LF, ie the ones that UT 'takes'...

Screw it! I got me a set yesterday. Not going to wait for the demand & prices to inflate to over $1k per ticket which will happen.

After 5pm today (Tuesday), LF will be sending email notifications to donors with annual contrubutions below $1500 that their tickets orders will not be filled.

The LF has not sent an email to everyone over $1500. There were some snafus with mail-out of Big XII Championship tickets, and so to avoid that, LF has been verifying some, but not all, addresses, especially PO boxes.

Is this the donation amount in calendar year 2009 and beyond? Why can't one just call and increase the donation for this year to equal $1500+? Sure, you would have to continue that amount in the future but would the LF accept and give you tix? Just a thought/question.

This sucks. I've got a friend that this is his first year to get season tickets. He gave $1600 to foundation and is going to get tickets. He did not graduate from UT and has had season tickets for ONE year.

I've had season tickets since 1991 and will graduate this semester (took considerable time off) and have donated $10's of thousand to LHF over the years.

In total, I will have given over $75,000 more than this guy to the University... but he gave $400 more than me this year so he gets to go. This does not sit well with me.

KVUE Ch. 24 reported last night that each school was given 19,000 tickets.

The Link

There is an error in the story at the end; it states 1900 for students AND Foundation. If you watch the video on the link instead, Ms. Culpepper only says students get 1900. Whomever transposed this story for KVUE screwed it up.

So of the 19K, 1,900 go to students, and figure another 1,100 or so for the band and players/coaches families. If the LF is distributing 14K, where the **** did the other 2K tickets go?

Well F**k me running! Just got the "NO" email. I donate $1500! Says they are notifying all who Donated $1500 AND below. So, according to that, all $1500 are screwed. $1501 woulda got it.
