CU Cheated?

The only thing that stinks is the titty baby attitude by some on this board and apparently some in the Texas football program.

Somebody is feeling a little self righteous this morning. Get over yourself. Mack Brown goes out of his way to always say nice things about everyone, so much so people on this board often get hacked about it so for him to come out the way he did yesterday and all but say cheating went on is extraordinary and if you followed how he operates at all you would realize just what a huge statement he was making yesterday.

couldn't the "deal" just be about playing time or designing the offense around him etc?

in other words, it could be something innocent from a violations standpoint.

Really it doesn't matter if they did pay his mom off. Do you really think the ncaa is going to do anything? Hell, look at the R bush situation at usc and the great Big Red Auto job plan at ou. so what a couple of scholarships lost, Ol stoopsie laughed his *** off with the way that went down. The ncaa is a F'in joke and those that want to abuse the system know they won't get anything but a slap on the wrist. So what is all of the hoopla about?

Above and beyond the cheating allegations, Hagen is a DBAG for the **** he spread about Major. Major has more NCAA coaching experience than Hagen, in more prestigious positions at more prestigious schools. Hagen convinced DS not only that Major wasn't a good coach, but also that he was somehow "sleazy."

If Mack wanted this kid so bad, why didn't he call up Tom Hicks and have him offer the kid a minor league baseball contract?

Better yet, why didn't Mack tell the kid about the unlimited access he would have to $1 defense attorneys?

Throwing stones, glass houses, you get the picture.

Nobdy's clean Pete. Some may do a better job of keeping things quiet, but even on the 40 Acres, someone's got dirty hands. Take it to the bank (pun intended).

He already played minor league baseball before Tom Hicks bought the Rangers. Tom Hicks didn't buy the Rangers until early 1998.

Nice conspiracy theory, though.

Ricky was drafted in 1995 by the Philadelphia Phillies and played for four years in their organization. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure Tom Hicks did not own the Philadelphia Phillies. He was later acquired by the Montreal Expos in 1998 who sold his rights to the Texas Rangers. Point being, Ricky had an established minor league career prior to meeting Tom Hicks.

Boy this thread is weird. I never even suspected CU of cheating. I just figured DS is a decent guy by all accounts, he had a hard time deciding, he chose CU. I was disappointed but not vengeful or anything. Good for him, best wishes and all that.

Now an article surfaces that raises the possibility that CU cheated to get the guy. Why wouldn't I be interested to know that? Of course I want to know. If people think that's aggy or conspiracy theory or glass houses or whatever, fine. I think it's worth knowing, if there's any substance to the allegation.

I guess a $ooner know$ a cheater when he $ee$ one.
CU must be clean

Congrats to CU for getting Scott. Who cares by what means. I don't care if rumors were true that they offered mom a bank job.

Now, let's beat them with the kid and make him look across the field at a winner. Moving on.

If they did make a return to cheating ways (which is a shame because I have always liked Hawkins and hope this is all much about nothing) they will get theirs esp. with the hubub going on. Time will tell.

I just don't like the idea that a school could get away with something this egregious. If CU really just blatantly gave someone a job, they should be punished.

Isn't there a point when "everyone's doing it" doesn't work as an excuse? Shouldn't there be an incentive against cheating?

If there's a tape, it should go to the NCAA.
