#15, P/K Russell Erxleben, one of two Longhorns to be named All-American three times ('76, '77, '78). The other is WR Hub Bechtol ('44, '45, '46), whom we overlooked while fawning over the various choices for #81.

14 days til Notre Dame! That's two weeks, people!!!!

Here's another player tailor-made for an NJLonghorn feature:
  • 2012 walk-on DB Dylan Haines
  • Didn't see the field under Mack Brown
  • Excelled at spring practice 2014, catching Strong's eye
  • Not listed on Coach Strong's original depth chart
  • Worked his way up to starting SS by fall camp 2014
  • Awarded a scholly at end of camp
  • Started all 13 games in 2014 (wearing #44)
  • Shown below (a) leveling Bradley Marquez, and (b) returning an INT against ISU
  • Projected to start again at SS in 2015, but now wearing #14
  • Considered one of the most reliable players on the team

Here's Eddie Phillips with Emory Bellard. Bellard, of course was credited with inventing the wishbone offense; his offensive coordinator stint at UT was between his high school football coaching career--three state championships--and 14 years of head coaching at A&M and Mississippi State.

So much credit to Emory Bellard and to DKR for trusting him.

That photo was awesome, or as we say on HF: allsome!!

Here are 3 of the best / classic UT QB's that ran the Powerful Wishbone Offense during the DKR days. I don't want rank them but here they are:

1. Phillips
2. Street
3. Akins
