i’ll probably take flack for this observation, but I believe it to be true.

We have been unbelievably fortunate. Three fumbles, and we didn’t lose one of them. They stopped themselves half the time with penalties.

Definitely stewing over the blitz with 20 some seconds to go. It's as if OS saw it coming. Did he audible?

I keep thinking about the roughing the kicker penalty against Colorado years ago.

Even couch potatoes know just keep the ball in front of you and check their homerun hitters. Only 29 seconds left for goodness sake at their 25 yd line.
Undoubtedly the worse call of the year by PK and it may cost us this game and the next cause we will beat ND. Another words that call could cost us the national championship!

If we kicked that early field goal…..14-10
Remember the Alabama-Auburn kick-6 return off a short field goal? When the return happens, 8 kicking team players were fat, slow linemen. Wasn't too difficult to outrun those guys and an unathletic kicker. Don't leave it short!

I’m sure part of the calculus was that it was far from certain that we would make it
Exactly. That was the dead zone where you're too far to have much chance of the kick, but too close to make punting a good call because you'll likely only swing like 20 yards of position. Going for it in that zone between the 35 and 45 or so is usually a good call at longer distances than the rest of the field.
