Coronavirus

When I read you all pissing about hydroxychloroquine I honestly fear for the survival of our species. How did we get this stupid? If your treating doctor (not Trump, not some partisan journalist, not some ER doctor you've never met) says to take it, then do so. If he doesn't, then don't. Why the hell does this have to be complicated or political?

Bingo. It is that simple, and I'm sure that's the way it works in most countries. But just as nash's post a few before yours, the US has become one of the most corrupt in the world. It's only about power, & and control and to achieve that Trump must be taken down, whatever the cost. The hell with saving people's lives.

This is supposed to be today in Berlin
Official numbers : 800.000
Unofficial numbers: 1.3 Million
If nothing else, we can see the difference between how Germans define "peaceful protesters" versus how the US Media and Democrats define "peaceful protesters"

How uneducated are you? Swedes, Norwegians, and Danes are all not what Bernie claims they are. They are capitalists who have just almost as much economic freedom as the US. Bernie's desired policies would be thrown in the trash quickly in each of those countries regardless of his fetish for super majority white places.

What Bernie advocates is a high government service, free or very cheap education and health care, high worker protection, very high taxes ... pretty much what you see in Sweden and Denmark. Those who say he is advocating the Cuba/Venezuela model pretty much get their insight from memes on Facebook.

doesn’t your subsequent statement sorta refute this? Anyway I don’t agree. I fear that today we are among the corruption leaders. No linky just my ashamed opinion.
People actually study that sort of thing. It's not perfect ... it's based on perceptions. But it pretty much bears out what I know from reading about doing business around the world. Corruption Perceptions Index - Transparency.org

Of course that measures mostly the corruption of the powerful. There is the low level corruption here ... getting grants to go to school then not going, overusing medical services if insurance/government is bearing most of the cost, not paying utilities is there is a moratorium on evictions or a losing service, not making mortgage payments if you're underwater on you house, looting if it looks like there will be no consequences. Across cultures, there is great variation on what is normal and acceptable.

Cases are down >20% in FL, TX, and CA. Cases are down >33% in AZ. You won’t see that in the media. Watch for the media to switch to something else in 2 weeks to bash Trump.

Crockett. He praised Venezuela until it fell into the abyss. Literally right up until. He is a socialist. Also Bernie wants to outlaw private health insurance. There is still private health insurance in Scandinavian countries. What he advocates is beyond what they do. He also advocates much less economic freedom than exists in the Scandinavian countries.

mchammer, it is going to be deaths for a couple of weeks. There are still about 10,000 excess deaths on the CDC books that haven't been reported by state health orgs. They are getting loaded into COVID counts, thousands at a time, to make it look like deaths are "spiking". They aren't. The deaths are old. We are more or less out of this.

My hospitals are seeing consistent drops in cases requiring hospitalization. Overall Covid census down 75% in last week. It is also true that the daily cases number is meaningless.

The father of a family friend reportedly died from covid, however he had previous long standing health issues and he was never tested for covid.

Have to add I just learned of a friends elderly dad that passed. Actually he was hospitalized because he wasn’t feeling well, they do that with the elderly, and he aspirated. He actually tested NEG for COVID but guess what they categorized it as,,,,,, yep Covid!

Where did all the HCQ haters go?
Seems like they disappeared

This week the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons submitted additional evidence to a federal court for why interference with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) should end by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), in AAPS v. FDA, No. 1:20-cv-00493-RJJ-SJB (W.D. Mich.).

"As confirmed by another recent study of thousands of patients at the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan, HCQ is both very safe and highly effective in treating COVID-19, reducing mortality by 50%," AAPS informed the court in its filing. "Countries with underdeveloped health care systems are using HCQ early and attaining far lower mortality than in the United States, where [HHS and the FDA] impede access to HCQ."

Yet most Americans are still unable to obtain HCQ for early treatment of COVID-19, and virtually no Americans are able to access it as preventive medicine. HCQ has been used safely for decades by travelers to protect against malaria, but Americans are dying from COVID-19 while HCQ is withheld from them.

"Citizens of the Philippines, Poland, Israel, and Turkey all have greater access to HCQ than American citizens do," observes AAPS General Counsel Andrew Schlafly. "In Venezuela, HCQ is available over the counter without a prescription, while in the United States pharmacists are prevented from filling prescriptions for HCQ."
More Evidence Presented for Why Hydroxychloroquine Should be Made Available, in a New Court Filing by the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons (AAPS)

FWIW re: the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) is a conservative non-profit association founded in 1944. The group was reported to have about 5,000 members in 2014. The association has promoted a range of scientifically discredited hypotheses, including the belief that HIV does not cause AIDS, that being gay reduces life expectancy, that there is a link between abortion and breast cancer, and that there is a causal relationship between vaccines and autism.

Official sounding names are often used to spread BS. Just throw this org in the same bucket of quackery pushed by Dr. Immanuel.

Hey there SH! Interesting article on an interesting group. I felt particularly amused about Obama and the ‘O’. But I have to admit I liked some of their positions too. All in a day in 2020.

Remember when AZ was the poster child by the media for the virus? Not anymore. Media now focusing on Midwest like MO, IN, MN, IL, OH where cases are peaking. By Election Day, the media will be camping out in Montana or Wyoming looking for the last great surge like gold miners looking for their last seam.

I read an article in the Chron today saying the 2nd wave stuff is not warranted. Basically you are seeing the first wave at different states. Also, the virus has to mutate to qualify as a second wave. In short, too many people have been talking out of their ***. The worry now is not 2nd wave but a combined flu/covid season where ICU beds are full. Not sure even if that makes sense since the generally the same person will need an ICU by either disease.

mchammer, "the worry" is the message and we have heard it nonstop since March.

Wait 2 weeks. 2nd wave. 3rd wave. Future complications for babies. In every case the stories are built on half truths with the sole purpose of creating worry, that's it. Time to worry about how corrupt EVERYONE in our health organizations and media corporations are. If they don't actively deceive, they sit by and let others they work with deceive.

I don't know how exactly but we all need to stand up and tell them to sit down.

Big disparity in the size estimates. Berlin Police say only about 17,000. LInk.

Opinion: Failed policies are hitting Texas border communities the hardest

"Democracy needs resilient communities that can adapt to challenges, disasters, and crises. But democratic resiliency is also a product of federal and foreign policies. If our democracy cannot protect vulnerable communities, then the very core of those who make up the “us” in the United States cannot defend a democracy that pushes them away. Therein lies the reality that domestic policy is foreign policy, but current state and federal failures to act on this principle are sabotaging the governing system on which all of us rely."

Read that very closely. To me, it's saying if the federal government doesn't stop enforcing immigration laws and doesn't pour money into a corrupt South Texas (for instance) to care for EVERYBODY regardless of their immigration status then we will stand by and not defend this country.

That could mean an insurrection or support for foreign invaders. That is where the Left is today.

Can you quote from your link where the AAPS said HIV did not cause aids? I am not saying they did not say that. I skimmed your link and did not find any mention of AAPS denying that.
