Texas hospital CEO: COVID inpatient count 'misinterpreted,' level of alarm 'unwarranted'

Texas hospital CEO: COVID inpatient count 'misinterpreted,' level of alarm 'unwarranted'

In Texas, focal point of national anxiety about a coronavirus 'second wave,' the state counts every COVID-positive hospital patient as a hospitalization for COVID itself, which may be exaggerating numbers.

“May be” exaggerating numbers? :e-thinking:
I 100% believe this. Marc Boom is a smart guy and a great CEO. This is more and more becoming nothing but an effort to get Trump out of office.

Yes, they're out. I don't know how long they'll be paid. Benefits at car dealerships aren't great. My friend is livid at the owner. He thinks the employees are all expendable as far as the owner is concerned.
I have a brother in the car business and there are no benefits. If they do get them, they suck. Anyway, sorry to hear this. Good news is they are seeing great results with redemsivir and steroids. Prayers to them all.

I'd really like for there to be more antibody testing. If there are as many asymptomatic infections as some are suggesting, it would point to some hope of herd immunity.
They are testing. See article below. Based on testing of donated blood, 10x has antibodies than supposed to based on known virus cases.

Some are blaming illegal immigration from Mexico in southern CA, AZ, and TX as a surge of cases seen in southern counties in those states.
From what I have read it typically spread among groups of people who have extended contact with one another, the larger the gatherings the more chance of spread.

I'm sure the Coronavirus is indifferent about what brings people in proximity to one another... tt just likes it when there are lots of moisture droplets in the air that get sucked into somebody's lungs. Any large gathering the goes on for a while is going to be dangerous. If people are talking, singing, shouting... all the worse. If they are outside and have some distance from one another it's better.

I am in favor of the herd immunity mentality. The quicker everyone gets exposed and develops the ability to fight it off, just like every other virus, the better.

They are testing hotspots people! You can't use the testing to draw conclusions about the pandemic life or curve. To do that you would have to randomly test your state every couple of weeks. You would do that with PCR tests and antibody tests. You would have to keep the 2 data sets separate. But comparing the 2 over time would tell you how many actual cases are occurring and whether actual cases are increasing or decreasing.

We aren't doing that in Texas. Abbott stated on Monday that Texas is rapidly increasing testing in hotspot areas and contacts of those who have tested positive. He is doing this because the Commies criticized him when he opened up about not increasing testing enough or checking people who are most compromised. He authorized doing just that a couple of weeks ago. So now we are uncovering more cases, so the Commies are claiming there is a 2nd wave.

It is actually a good thing Texas is doing. It allows us to confirm cases and apply proper precautions/treatments to those people. However, this data is worthless in terms of tracking the progression of the virus through our state. There is probably no way to really do that now because we had such little testing at the beginning when you would have seen the steepest increases.

There could be an increase in actual cases but the data taken and reported is useless to prove one way or another.

COVID spread prompts Abbott to shutter Texas bars, limit restaurant capacity

Unfortunate to have to have cajones to do your job and tell the truth these days.

IMO, folks who are still working for corporations need to have a back up plan,
The crazies have taken over the schools and universities.
They have the entertainment industry and news media and television.
They have social media.
They even have our military.
And now they have the big corporations
The only place people are allowed to speak their minds anymore is small business.

Imagine you are a nurse, just got off a 14-hour shift, you are exhausted and are leaving work and say to a co-worker, "You know, I am getting pretty sick of these BLM people." Your co-worker then reports you, you get fired as a racist.

Stuff like this is happening out there and if you are a white male, you basically have no chance of winning in a situation like this. Get yourself a Plan B.

And he has about the best talk show you will ever listen to.

But back to the point, it happens here too
I dont know about the rest of you, but other posters on this forum have tried to get me removed and/or censored, more than once. It's all part of the same general movement. It's what they do.

I don't agree with you often on politics Joe, but I'm genuinely disappointed to hear that.

I agree with you more often than not, and that disturbs me too. I will admit to wishing a few posters banned but I’ve never promoted it. The ignore plan is anyone’s option and should suffice.

In Corpus the uptick looks to be related to graduation parties and crowded beaches and all the rental units on the islands are booked up for the summer

“but we’ve always gone to Port A for summer!!”

well, we wouldn’t want to interfere with your traditions.

I've never gone the other way and asked for anyone to be banned. But I have asked for equal treatment.

I saw something the other day that those UT students who gained some national attention with their spring break fling did show some positive tests.

here it is https://nypost.com/2020/06/25/spring-break-trip-to-mexico-left-60-texas-students-with-coronavirus/

I once got reported bc I suggested one of the liberal posters must have come up with his analysis of something while doing kegel exercises. I think that was the first time I got called into the principal's office. I thought it was funny-clever. In fact, it still makes me giggle just visualizing it. But not everyone agreed.
