I'm assuming that hospitalizations and deaths are a lagging indicator. So, we don't know yet. Give it 4 weeks and let's see if it holds.
The truth is that all the nursing homes have been hit hard by the virus. The dry kindling has all been burned. Virus is hitting the greener, wetter wood.

They are testing hotspots people! You can't use the testing to draw conclusions about the pandemic life or curve. To do that you would have to randomly test your state every couple of weeks. You would do that with PCR tests and antibody tests. You would have to keep the 2 data sets separate. But comparing the 2 over time would tell you how many actual cases are occurring and whether actual cases are increasing or decreasing.

We aren't doing that in Texas. Abbott stated on Monday that Texas is rapidly increasing testing in hotspot areas and contacts of those who have tested positive. He is doing this because the Commies criticized him when he opened up about not increasing testing enough or checking people who are most compromised. He authorized doing just that a couple of weeks ago. So now we are uncovering more cases, so the Commies are claiming there is a 2nd wave.

It is actually a good thing Texas is doing. It allows us to confirm cases and apply proper precautions/treatments to those people. However, this data is worthless in terms of tracking the progression of the virus through our state. There is probably no way to really do that now because we had such little testing at the beginning when you would have seen the steepest increases.

There could be an increase in actual cases but the data taken and reported is useless to prove one way or another.

I was in a medical staff meeting this morning at a very large Level 1 trauma center. Cases have spiked here and it includes employees testing positive. However, the Chief of Staff stated patients are receiving Remdesivir and doing really well. No patients on vents. He attributed the success to early identification and treatment.

I wonder if the folks getting sick are just healthier, thus from a relative point of view, it appears the virus is weaker. It could be both!
Well, 2 PGA golfers have tested positive. They were busy prepping for the tournaments when the results came back. So, asymptomatic. Only tested to follow the protocols. But, it adds to the so-called total.

At least, in this case, they are not following through with this.

ONLY because of the backlash NOT because they realized how idiotic the policy was

Are you seeing a true increase in cases and hospitalizations? Or do you think much of the increase in positive tests an artifact of increased testing, changing policy, and testing hotspots?

Definitely spiking. But much healthier patients so I’m guessing it’s mostly due to increased testing among the asymptomatic. Now that the PPE scare is over, I expect hospitals will be just fine. Two of my hospitals had hospitals built in vacant space by the Army in case of a spike. I’m guessing these are common in most major cities.

7 day daily avg for US is now 600. If it gets to <500, it is comparable to auto fatalities (35k pa), suicides (50k pa), drug deaths (70k pa), and murder (15k pa) combined.

The only answer is to let this run its course. The American population is not going to fully observe social distancing or stay at home measures. Closing the economy again will result in even more economic disaster and deaths that will not be recoverable in our lifetimes.

Hopefully by now those MOST at risk and anyone living with them are taking the right precautions.
For the rest who are testing positive but with no or minimal symptoms hopefully we find they develop antibodies.

I have a friend who is 60 years old and a parts manager for a S.A. auto dealership. He has 5 employees under him. Two of his 5 emps have Covid and are out. He and the other three are getting tested. 7 people total in his dealership have tested positive. It's not a large dealership. Just shows you how if the virus gets into a small group that works closely together, it spreads like crazy.

Hospitalizations are up, which means we have a lot of really sick folks. Deaths are down from the peak. I think younger/healthier people are showing symptoms. I think with experience and better knowledge of which meds work, hospitals are better at treating COVID.

I'd really like for there to be more antibody testing. If there are as many asymptomatic infections as some are suggesting, it would point to some hope of herd immunity.

When you have, for example, 2 pro golfers being tested and given the result while on the driving range, why can't mental midgets like this moron, Daily Show, really(?), see that now that testing is widely available, the number of cases is really skewed. What % of those are asymptomatic? For chrissakes, are ICU beds being overrun?

C'mon, man...
