I've read that pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers do spread the virus. There are multiple case studies documenting it. They do NOT shed it as widely but they do shed the virus.

I agree with you. I hate wearing it but it keeps me from infecting others if I'm an asymptomatic carrier, as about 50-60% of the people who get the virus are. If we all wear them we could limit growth.

So the argument here is to always wear a mask, not just now but literally forever.

From the CDC the recap for seasonal flu deaths from 2010 average is 37K deaths for the 9 season thru 2019.

The preliminary estimate for 2019 to 2020 thru April is a range of 21K to 64K which is more in line with the 37K average of the previous 9 seasons.

100K deaths for less than 100 days of CV19 will certainly increase when the final count is determined for 2020.
A multiple of 37K average seasonal flu deaths from a math perspective when finalized.

The average deaths per year from flu is about 40,000 in the US. COVID now is at 100,000 as the virus is trailing off, overall in the US.

That is with a vaccine and built up immunities. Comparing COVID to Flu isn't fair to COVID at this point. Once people get more exposure to COVID strains and mutate to be less virulent, the hospitalizations and deaths will most likely come down.

If there is a vaccine that will further help. But who knows when a real treatment or vaccine will be available. May still be years.
