Coronavirus

Mine were young too and I don’t recall any hysteria

:smile1:
There was some hysteria if you had kids. The pig flu didn’t hit adults since most had the vaccine in 1976-77. So, no panic among the adults that drove the economy. Also, most adults were worried about their jobs, keeping their houses, etc. Finally, they had a vaccine available for the vulnerable by Fall 2009 and the vaccine for everyone around Spring 2010. Also, the vaccine was in the regular flu shot for Fall 2010.

Really weird seeing liberals happy to see a huge drop in the stock market. I’ll buy more when the hysteria ends with the virus and the oil situation subsides.

The risk to businesses and jobs is what is most concerning. Liberals would rather see mass unemployment and Joe Biden as POTUS than a healthy economy and have a competent candidate beat Trump in November.

I guess they bought the NY Times/Wash Post memberships too.

Or ... they can't sustain such spread of disease and maintain any semblance of readiness.

.... OTOH ... perhaps that IS the trigger?

... have some to do items before we reach THAT point, though.

Do you mean asymptomatic carriers are not contagious?
Dion ...

my understanding from the CDC (and I'll find the link later) .... they have said a person can be infected with COVD-19, BE CONTAGIOUS, and have no symptoms of any kind for as long as 2 weeks after being infected.

Now perhaps this isn't completely accurate, but that's what CDC reported last week.

unless I misunderstood his comment

I'm sure I misunderstood.

what gets me is the smarties who are poking fun at the hysteria with comparative mortality rates.

Ahm ... I'd hope we'd take action before just "don't die" is the result.

losing marbles isn't helpful ... but just heckling isn't either.

I’m not worried about me personally but I don’t want my mom hanging in a risky area and I don’t want to be in a risky area so I don’t pass it to her.

I remember some H1N1 stuff at work but I was in the third party administrator side of the health care market at the time. Not the hands on side. It’s a little different

i remember the concern. There was a confirmed case in our school system ... then a week later, my eldest (junior high at the time) woke up bad sick. Mom had left for a training ... so it was on me to get the kids to school, then goto work.

the earliest they could see us was in the afternoon. So, I called in sick to work. fortunately, wasn't swine flu, but did have one of the other flu strains.

The large portion of people on that cruise ship that tested positive but had no symptoms was scary to me. 4,061 tested. 705 confirmed cases. 392 of them were asymptomatic. Think about CPAC. :)

It is easy to watch Trish Regan. And what she said in 2 minutes was the absolute truth. The Joe Scarborough clips were the best evidence.

One of the saddest things to observe through this whole "Everything is Trump's Fault" period of history is the way the same people who are vocal proponents of open borders and opponents of a Wall, are the very same people screaming that Trump has not done enough to keep the US safe from this virus. It's the same people.

To me, it is a complete failure of our media. Our national corporate media. They should be calling out the hypocrites. If they did, then much of it would end. But they dont. And they wont. Because they are corrupt.

I had read that Corona was not spread during asymptomatic periods. Apparently I was partially correct. It is still spread but not as much.

I think they're still figuring out how it spreads but the most common way (per ShAAk92's article) is for you to be within 6' of a symptomatic person when they cough or sneeze. The little droplets get in your nose or mouth or eyes and you got it. Touching a surface that an infected person coughed or sneezed on may also give it to you, but isn't the main way.

Everything that was said by those people she showed was spot on. This administration might as well be John Blake trying to bring back the wishbone. They're stepping all over their penis on this. It is shown that the way to properly address this virus is to be open with information and be aggressive in testing. We are being less than forthright and we are actively not testing people so we "won't hurt our numbers". That's a recipe for a poor outcome. I don't blame Trump for the virus or for the economic downturn. We've been on an 11 year uptick. However, I will blame him for a poor response to the virus in the US and for our inability to respond properly to the upcoming recession as he bullied the Federal Reserve Chair into keeping the rates lower than they otherwise would have been and we don't have that lever.

Have you seen our death count compared to Europe's? Trump's preparation for the Coronavirus has been phenomenal. Stating his opinion is hardly bullying. Trump is correct. You can't have an interest rate that much higher than the rest of the world's and stay competitive. This current problem is due to the Coronavirus and it will disappear when the disease disappears. You keep quoting MSM ******** as fact and it isn't.

Ok Bahdad Bob. Vietnam's? Phenomenal. South Korea? Same. Ours has been poor combined with lies and miscommunication.

It is just silly to blame any POTUS for a pandemic that started elsewhere. The media is yelling “fire” in a crowded theatre telling people to stock up on supplies etc. They have unnecessarily caused water, toilet paper, medical supplies and sanitizer shortages.

The CoronaVirus is not as deadly as the flu. If you are a compromised person (age or medically) you are at risk. The average age of people who have died from this is 80.

Then the joy of a huge fall in the stock market makes the media and liberals happy. Just simply dumb.

Lets be open and cause riots and people not showing up to work and basically cause our economy to shut down. If a Democrat was in office this same media would be hailing him for their leadership skills in this trying time. They would be talking about how smart it was to hide such information from the people because we don't want to create panic.

So far this year the flu has killed 18 thousand people in the US, Corona has killed less than 100. It's about to enter the hot part of the year, that means Corona is going to shut down for a few months. China is already seeing a reduction in the number of new cases.

Trump's travel restrictions ((that the media and dems attacked) saved American lives. I'm sure Bubba knew about that.

Immigration control is 100% political now. Trump is enforcing the law albeit with some mistakes. The Democrats want an open tap for the Latino vote. They have their "wise Latina" on SCOTUS to rule as instructed. One of the major planks of immigration control is vetting for illnesses. DOESN'T MATTER. It's political. If you're a Liberal then you want to keep the border open along with all the party favors: Sanctuary cities, benefits, abolish ICE, amnesty for Dreamers with no slamming of the back door...

They have been outed. COMPLETELY.

Wasn't Trump ridiculed for saying this?
