I think y'all have confused Mexican Food with Tex-Mex in this thread.

Pappasito's is the very best Tex-Mex extant and they are based in Houston, so there.

The Pappas family gives you more food than you can eat, for more money than you want to pay, and it will always be good, never great. Their model is to get you off the freeway into their store, get your money and out the door. The freeway carries lots of people, and I really don't think Chris & Harris care if you come back or not.

Be it TexMex, true Mexican, seafood, or burgers, they will never make my Top Ten in any category. Too many local places in each category to enjoy for half the price and twice the service.

And here’s the controversial opinion—all 3 of these beat the pants off anything in San Antonio.

Yes, in San Antonio. I had a lady friend that worked for Continental Airlines at the San Antonio airport. She grew up in Southeast SA, and knew the city well. She took me there the first time about 25-30 years ago when it was in the old house on South Alamo. It would later move into what I believe was an old furniture store on South Alamo a couple of blocks north of the original location. Those were the best enchiladas I've ever had in SA.

I do think they lost an opportunity when they opened the small location in the Continental/Southwest gate location at the airport. Their reputation took an undeserved hit because they didn't serve the same dishes at the airport.

The location on San Pedro where the old Maggie's was located closed. It wasn't very good. I like El Mirasol. Beef fajita enchiladas are great and the chispas are potent.

I didn't think Denver was very pleasant. Long rides to get from terminal to terminal. And DIA seems like it's halfway to Kansas - very long drive to get into Denver itself. Not my favorite airport - but zillions of time better than LAX.
