Coaching News and Rumors

This move would finally dry up the ducks recruiting luck in Texas. Without Samples, Knight can not out money whip us anymore.

As long as Phil Knight is alive the money will be there to draw recruits from anywhere they want them. Heck, he might leave his fortune to Oregon just to make sure they stay relevant even after he's gone.

Just a tiny bit exaggerated there Sabre. Although I will be quick to admit the ones from days gone by have all deteriorated there are still some good ones, all of the hole in the wall type places. Without question Santa Fe and Taos are better, Samta Fe being the best of those two.

My last active duty assignment was at Kirtland AFB. There were some pretty decent places to eat in Albuquerque then, but that was 50 years ago.
The Albuquerque of 50 years ago is a dump today with the "good" moving to the northern suburbs. The area around Kirtland has not changed that much.

There needs to be a language change in the scholarship offer at smaller schools. Coaches are very clear up front that their offer is for one year and the athlete must earn the scholarship for the second year. In today's day with NIL, all that does is drive a wedge between players and coaches making it an all for one and I'm for me attitude. It's a risk, but give these kids a more of a scholarship guarantee up front and they might be a little more loyal.
