Coaching News and Rumors

Venables will bring them down for multiple years.
You could be correct. History is full of competent coordinators who were simply not competent head coaches. There's no doubt BV was an excellent DC , but so far, he's not cutting it as Head Coach. It will be interesting to see how long ou will let it ride - maybe he can turn it around, but the fanbase and the administration will not have a lot of patience.

OU is the kind of job where one could just show up, tweak the system, get some transfers, and win immediately. The "Blake-to-Stoops" transition was pre-NIL and all of these modern issues that coaches have to deal with, and they still managed to turn out, put the right people in the right places, and win.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Big XII coaches (Leipold, Campbell, Klieman, McGuire, etc.) said "eff this conference" and got the Sooner job and yielded immediate results.

I think OU is in real trouble and I approve. Venables will bring them down for multiple years.
Before we throw too much dirt on their grave remember we are just one year removed from them beating us at the State Fair. The rivalry tends to run in cycles and let hope we are in for a prolonged Burnt Orange cycle.

They have had Schnellenberger and it was a horrible experience, but then they had Donnie Duncan as AD at the same time. Have there ever been two more despicable subhumans in athletics?

What would Arkansas know about competing in the SEC? Since joining 32 years ago they have zero conference championships. They played in three conference championship games but lost them all with the last one 18 years ago. They've mostly been a pimple on the SEC's *** just like aggy except that in 13 years aggy has never even won the division nor played for a conference championship.

You mean like Deion? That would be interesting. It could be a major coup.

My off-the-wall take is Jerrah does a Hershall Walker deal with someone who wants Dak to dump some of the tied-up money, somehow gets the rights to the #1 draft pick, hires Sanders and drafts his son to QB the Cowboys.

I'm not sure how the salary cap works. Can you just dump it or do you have to do something with the bonus money that's been paid?

But... Dak has a no trade clause. Jerry gave him the highest contract ever, a no-trade clause and no franchise tag either.

Ok. I just found something on trading players.
