Super K keeps saying Tosh Lupoi has an offer from Texas for LBs, and we are vetting Marve (see above^) only as a backup if Lupoi goes elsewhere.

He also thinks Tennessee star LB Henry To’o To’o comes to Texas if Lupoi does. He is already in the portal. He is former top-50 prospect who led the Vols in tackles during his sophomore season in 2020. Not that we need a good tackling linebacker or anything like that

Here is one version of the story -- it appears that the Stoops hire was ready to happen. Terms were agreed. But the people funding this operation objected. And then word leaked out to the masses (the "Orangefans") and they raised hell overnight with CDC and Hartzell even.
If so, it is Sark's first stumble.
Nor is it a good look for CDC, who apparently was willing to either ride with Herman in 2021, or replace Herman with James Franklin. Which is troubling on either account, if true. Luckily, we have some smart BMDs and they said "no."

I remember when we hired Langhi, there was optimism it would help us land some Polynesian players. We got one.

My guess that stoops was the backup to the backup and had an initialed contract ready for signature.
