What Taaffe did used to be called a form tackle.
"Form Tackle"
That is exactly how we were coached to tackle in HS... in the olden days. Sometimes helmets met but the technique could not be deemed targeting of the head / neck area.

He still has his participation trophy from there on his shelf.Obviously, he went to Mack Brown's Summer Camp
Everything looks cooler in slow-mo but man that was classic with the UT towels flying up with water/drinks sprays in celebration. Mukuba Sr. is a CHAMPION.That was all-some. Add in some Steve Sabol narration and then we have an old school instant classic.
Anyone besides me are tired of hearing about skattebo?
Seeing how much punishment he delivered and dished out, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t pass his medical tests heading to the nfl.
Even better - how 'bout John Facenda? The first voice of the NFL Films highlights. That was all-some. Add in some Steve Sabol narration and then we have an old school instant classic.
...and they're not the first.Horns D beat the living daylights out of Skattebo. Bet he slept 16 hours after that game.
Let’s get in the Way Back machine and have Ed Sabol producing and John Facenda narratingThat was all-some. Add in some Steve Sabol narration and then we have an old school instant classic.

Texas has to have a decent running game to beat Ohio State.Agree with Worster…Skattebo was hammered. They ran 90 plus plays, anybody is going to get late yards on that.
He is a beast though with no quit, but usually the guy throwing up in a fight lost.
The good news is that I think a 90 play defense effort should make us salty as hell moving forward.
I am pretty sure we can get 4 yards running down hill almost every play with Gibson. Both Blue and Wisner fumbled last game so unleash Baby Rhino way more as we get into bigger boy football.Plus the shock factor as a new element will benefit Texas.
Just have to disguise it better so if we bring in Gibson it isn’t always a dive.
Hard runs will keep OSU-33 in check on the edge.
Texas haters like Colin Cowherd can now say that Texas really lost the game but was saved by a no call. There were 60 minutes of football to win, yet a questionable no call was the reason ASU lost. That call was NOT MADE on the field and was deferred to the experts who also did not make the call. Yet talking head pricks like Cowherd, who never put on the pads, become the experts. This rule is too subjective and goes against the tone of football. That was a classic example of a good football play with no intention to launch or target. Putting your helmet in the runner's chest was a technic taught for years and if the runner lowers his head, that's on him. In this case the runner was falling forward, and no coach is going to teach the defender to pull out of the tackle before the runner is down. One other comment about Taaffe: as a safety, whenever he is the last guy with a chance on an open field runner, he gets directly in front of him the same way, even if he has no leverage. So, he got “trucked, run straight over” several times this year, falling backwards and holding on to make the tackle. But he made sure he didn’t get juked. Just saying, his priority is ending the play. So, his instinct is to position in direct alignment with the runner.
I think I was wrong about Colin. It appears that he played some high school football. ...quarterback?Texas haters like Colin Cowherd can now say that Texas really lost the game but was saved by a no call. But now there is a good national platform for Texas bashing. The only remedy is to kick the living sh-t out of the other teams. Had Texas won by 20, this would not be their ax to grind.
It was all for clickbait. There was no attempt at equanimity. For example, not looking at the hit on the Texas WR during the ASU INT.Yep, the multiple failed ASU 4th down attempts had nothing to do with Texas winning. Or, letting Texas score 14 quick points early. Or, getting a gift PI in the end zone on a completely uncatchable ball and still letting Texas win. Or, letting Texas score 2 quick TDs and allowing us to INT a ball in OT. I'm sure there is more....
Nope, just the correctly not called targeting.
