CFB Playoffs Announcement

Controversial opinion?

Cheating Michigan should have been disqualified from CFP consideration.
I think they went above and beyond with their stealing, but hate to say it, gotta leave them in until the toothless NCAA reveals their findings.

I just finished jumping up and down and screaming in my living room, just like I did around midnight when we won the nattie all those many years ago. Of course, I'm 75 now, so I could not jump as high, or for as long, and I could not scream as loudly as I did back then, but the feeling was the same.

In case anyone might have been wondering, Dukesteer is very, very, very, very, very happy. Wish the semi was here at Pasadena so I could just drive up the 5 to the 405 to the 605 to the 210, off at Colorado, but I’ll take New Orleans.

What is Sark’s bonus for playoff?

"Chris Del Conte isn’t saying whether he’s going to give Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian a raise or if he’s going to tack on a few years to his contract, which has three years left after this season. I’d suggest adding a year to give him a four-year deal and bumping his salary another $2 million. When I asked the Texas athletic director on Tuesday if he was planning to beef up his contract, Del Conte told me, “We’re not talking about that until after the season. We have a lot of football left.” As it is, Sarkisian is making “only” $5.6 million, which incredibly ranks a lowly 30th among the 133 FBS head coaches. Texas, as we all know, doesn’t do top 30. I’m not proposing a fully guaranteed, give-him-Jimbo kind of money. Sarkisian has had one great year and now has a 24-13 record and a spot in the Big 12 championship for only the school’s second time since 2009. He’s done a spectacular job and should receive consideration for national coach of the year, which if he wins earns him $100,000. Big 12 coach of the year brings him $50,000. He made a $100,000 bonus for reaching the Big 12 title game and gets a similar reward if he wins it. He’s almost certainly going to receive $50,000 for making a New Year’s Six bowl (another $50,000 if he wins it) and could make an additional $225,000 if Texas appears and wins a CFP semifinal and $250,000 if he wins it all. All totaled, he could command $6.42 million. He ranks fourth among Big 12 head coaches behind Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy ($7.6 million), Oklahoma’s Brent Venables ($7.1) and Kansas’ Lance Leipold ($5.75). To get Sarkisian into the top 10 echelon, Del Conte would have to give him a $3.5 million raise. … Was shocked Texas spoofed Brett Yormark with the Lubbock video on the Jumbotron. Texas doesn’t do that. But the electric crowd loved it. So did the players. The Big 12 commissioner wasn’t around to see it because he left around halftime, which is very telling."

Overjoyed to see the Longhorns in the CFP - they earned it.
I feel the heartache for Florida State - they're the undefeated champ of a Power 5 conference. Yes, they experienced a major injury late in the season. Yet they sucked it up and found a way to win without their starting QB - maybe the wins were ugly, but they were nevertheless wins. Florida State can say this - " we had a schedule to play, we played it, and we won every game, even when we had to cope with a significant injury - what more could we have done?"
But the committee was charged with picking the four best teams to play in the CFP - and without their starting QB, Florida State is not one of the four best. Florida State would simply not be competitive with Michigan, Washington, Texas, or Alabama without the starting QB. Sucks for Florida State - but IMO the committee got it right.

FSU got screwed. Sounds like the might get UGA in the Orange Bowl. If they win that, they probably get a computer to rank them tied for #1. They might claim it.

Third string QB Cardale Jones won the 2014 CFP...

I hope everyone got to see Sark's interview on ESPN just now. It's easy to love a guy when he wins for you, but wow. We've got a special guy here now.

The nice thing here is that most commentators think that FSU got screwed (and they’re not wrong), but also think that Alabama - not Texas - is the villain.

GB
And going back to his first interview here long before he made any changes or "coached" You could tell he was different and special.
