Celebrity Jerks I Have Met

I once peed at urinal next to Terry Bradshaw at a Mavs' playoff game about 20 years ago.

He snuck a peek and told me I had a nice cock.

That's funny about Bradshaw and the popcorn.
Matthew McConnahy is very friendly while walking from the UT games towards Scholtz's, seems just like one of the regular fans.
And Earl is always gracious and friendly, met him at various venues-he would appear at the Broken Spoke back in the day. He likes his country music.
All these people must get tired and defensive of all the public adulation. They can't be nice all the time-it would affect most people, I'm sure. They shouldn' t be total jerks, though.
If athletes sign autographs, no matter for how long, at some point they are going to leave, and the next person in line will say he's a big jerk.

I've met Peter Berg. Real jerk. People like him didn't get where they are by being nice.
I met Allison Janney from West Wing and BD Wong from SVU and they were both very nice people.

At a bar in Houston, Barkley and Sedale Threatt were hanging out. it wasnt crowded at the time and Chuck was ordering a drink next to me. I said hey to Chuck and asked if he would introduce me to Seal (who Sedale looked a lot a like). Sedale did NOT like the joke but Barkely couldnt stop laughing at him and he bought me and my friends drinks.

I sat next to Shawn Kemp on a flight back from Vegas last fall. He was a really nice guy.

Billy Gibbons is a regular at Christians Tailgate on Washington Ave. He is very friendly, last time I talked with him he had a new cell phone with some Tetris type game that he made me play to see if I could beat his high score. BG got pwn3d.

I'm a huge KISS fan, but Gene Simmons is one of the biggest a holes ever. Every other member of the band was cool though.

I have met a few but they have not been jerks, although my stepfather has some stories.

I have met Mark McGrath at the Hard Rock, cool to me. I have met Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin two different times, they were cool but Irvin was out of it one time.
I saw Bill Maher in the john at Iron Cactus in Austin, he was cool but he was short and looked awfully pale.

My stepfather has met Bono, he was cool to him, he has also met Deion cheap did not tip.

2 others: Jeter at The Big Apple after a Rangers game he was cool, and Ed Too Tall Jones always cool at a bar in Addison.

i've been around ted nugent a couple of times and even though he's loud & obnoxious, he was really a pretty cool guy.

did anyone happen to see the recent simpsons episode with steve buscemi doing the voice of a bank robber that marge promises to visit in prison, but never does?

there's a scene where he answers the phone in prison, thinkin it might be marge, but it's ted nugent doing a public service announcement about allowing crossbows in public schools so the children can protect themselves from 'charging elk.'

i got to be there for the recording session of that voiceover.

I disagree about Billy Joe Dupree. I did alittle business with him after he retired. He and his wife were both okay with me. Maybe he changed later in life?

To stick with main theme -- Biggest *** = Randy Cross, a real screamer/spitter. Unpleasant to be near.

Others--
Wayne Rogers of MASH -- rode Gondola with he and his kids. Funny and engaging
Robin WIlliams -- not so nice and looks like an ape while jogging
Alicia SIlverstone -- she sat with my party at a wedding in SF. Nice but I was with her old neighbors
John Henry Faulk -- lived next door to a friend of mine on Lake Austin. Had his own chickens b/c he liked fresh eggs (his rooster was a real showman). Good guy to sit around a table with to eat and talk
Nancy Griffith -- we took drivers ed together in Austin. She was only one in class who wasnt there to get out of a ticket, and I was only one in class who had heard of her, so she bought me a coffee across the street
Whoopi Goldberg -- we bumped into each other at that frozen drink bar in the mall off the Santa Monica pier. This was like 1994. She was very "frisky." The gf was not impressed.
Tony Lasorda -- skipped out on multiple dinner bills (Roco's - Houston)
Jim Marshall (HOF) -- had dinner with him twice. Easy to talk to but called his SB ring a "losers ring"
Dave Casper -- jokester/goofy
Toni Fritsch -- not the warmest man on earth
Jerry Sizemore -- nice, calm, polite
Steve McMichael -- sorry but not so nice (and owes me money damnit)
Russell Erxleben -- saw him get his *** kicked by a little guy one night in a bar just west if campus
1994-95 Rockets: met most of them and was impressed by how kind and respectful everyone was. Nice guys. Clyde was extra great
John McLain of Houston Chron -- not really a celeb but wanted to say he is an unbelievably nice guy. Will go out of his way to help you if he can.

I've met Tony Dorsett 2-3 times without him coming off as an ***.

I've heard before that Dr. J was an ***, that's disappointing.

Duane Thomas was very cool we both we're students of the great Mrs Foley a DISD legend.

One guy that hasn't been mentioned is the pianist Van Cliburn, super guy really funny.

Bruce McGill went to San Antonio MacArthur HS. The same school I went to. And a Texas Ex. He came and spoke one time to the school; I think he was on MacGyver then. I did a quick google search and it appears he is still alive.

During the 85 World Series, the "I-70 Series",

Ditto Jimmy Jazz.

No idea of your KC connection Johnny. The '85 world series scarred me for years. My first sports memory was watching Game 6 in my basement as a 7 year old in St. Louis.

I loved Whitey and those Cardinals teams of the mid 80s but was too young to remember the '82 series.

Being a Rangers fan since moving to Texas, my major league baseball memories haven't gotten much better since then.

As for celeb encounters:

I remember meeting Chris Tucker when he was with Cuban prior to game 5 of the Jazz series in Salt Lake City when the Mavs clinched their first playoff win of the Cuban era. Don't ask me why the guy was hanging out with Cuban. Nice guy.

For those that have bashed Cuban, you wouldn't believe how nice that guy was when he first bought the Mavs. He was desperate to get anybody to come to those games he probably would have let you hang out with him if you bought a mini-plan.

I also had brief brushes with fame with Rodman (during his Bulls heyday) and Michael Johnson.

Oh yea, I tried to sell a Rose Bowl ticket to Scott Cahn prior to the Michigan game at a diner out in LA before heading to the stadium. He wasn't interested or already had one, I can't remember

Well, a buddy of mentioned that the guy that we used to have a beer or seven with down at the Broadway 50/50 Club died of throat cancer or some ****. Now I have to kill him. Just transfer the "RIP" over to my poor buddy Paul.

DCLonghorn8, I'm jealous. I would love to meet Bono. I think the man has really put himself out there on the extreme poverty/AIDS issue, and i have a TON of respect for him. Glad to hear your experience with him was positive.

Plus, I'm a huge U2 fan as well.

long story, and its not precisely on-topic. it involves me meeting a celebrity, but im the one that acted like an *******.

september of 2000 i was a sophomore at ut. my brother was a senior at stanford so i went out to palo alto for the football game. before the game i had the opportunity to meet tiger woods at a tailgate.

although the campus was teeming with longhorns before the game, i was pretty much the only one at this tailgate full of stanford alums and students. as i was introduced to him, he gave me some **** about being a longhorn. i kindly explained that stanford had no chance against the highly ranked horns, and an epic beatdown was about to be visited upon his team.

i wonder if celebrities have message boards where they tell stories about the biggest jerkoff civilians theyve run into.

I was with Lady Bird Johnson and Liz Carpenter in first class on a flight from DFW to Austin. A thunderstorm rolled through DFW and we sat on the tarmac for an hour waiting to take off. We were in a DC-10 and the tower asked us to be the first to take off after the storm (This was back in the days when you could monitor the control tower on the passenger headsets.) since we were a "heavy". Well we take off and immediately encounter severe turbulence and take a lightning strike. The pilot drops down to about 1000 feet to try to get out of the turbulence. We're buzzing Dallas and are having the wildest ride I've ever had in over 2 million miles of flying. The tower suspends further takeoffs and we make it to Austin. By now it's after midnight and the airport is virtually closed. We sit at the gate for 30 minutes while they try to find someone to service the flight. So I'm standing at the door of the plane with Lady Bird and Liz (and LB's SS agent) and visiting a bit while we wait to get off. Lady Bird is very polite and Liz is obviously irritated. The pilots finish their post-flight tasks and emerge from the cockpit to wait with us. Liz immediately tears into the pilot and chews him out like nothing I've ever heard. Lady Bird doesn't say a word.
