Some of the California lifeguards are making $500K. What's irritating is I know the US goverment will end up picking up the majority of the cost for this massive screw up.

Californians are pissed off over high gasoline prices. Newsome pushes new law requiring in-state refiners to store a certain amount of gasoline earmarked for use in California during high gas price events.
Refineries are shutting down. Cal requires a certain blend of gasoline different from the rest of the country, and certain cities have their own additional requirements to the blend of gasoline sold in their cities...
The Monterrey Shale is big. BIG. HUGE. But.............fracing is not permitted...
Such a waste. Remember, J. Paul Getty became the World's richest man in the late 1960s and 1970s largely based on his California oil fields. I heard he bought himself a British Lordship in his later years.

If you stop looking at their environmental regime as scientific and instead look at it as religious, it makes a lot more sense.

On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott ordered that all flags at the Texas Capitol and other state buildings will be raised to full-staff on Jan. 20, 2025.
Donald Trump will be sworn in for his second term as president in Washington D.C. on that Monday.
Gov. Abbott's announcement cited a federal statute which says the flag should be displayed on all days, including Inauguration Day.
The president-elect has spoken out against the idea of flags being at half-staff for his inauguration."

Just had a telecon with my sister-in-law in Laguna Woods. She said that the National Guard is really taking a hard line on enforcing the curfew, and the police are cracking down on looters. They're making some progress on the fires but need a couple of days of light winds. Death toll likely to increase once fires are out and cadaver dogs can get in the area to search.
This is really a horrible situation for the folks affected by the fires. We need to continue to pray for them. Recovery could take a long time.
