Bo Davis audio…NSFW

When I played in HS if we lost the bus was virtually silent all the way back... anybody having fun or joking around after a loss would have been not only shunned the next week, but maybe kicked off the team.

Same here, no matter the sport. Silence after a loss. One time the QB got a charlie horse in the back seat and stood up yelling. I thought the coach was gonna kill him until he found out the reason.

Way to go Coach Bo....................I can remember alot of tears flowing after losing that playoff game my senior year, esp in the locker room peeling off that uniform for the last time and realizing there will be no more games to play ever. ( for most of us anyway)

Hell, I'm surprised these millennials didn't expect cake and ice cream after the game. Lord only knows they think everything they do is epic. Not to rehash the narrative, but isn't celebrating and joking around after a loss the definition of Loser?

I like it but agree with beer dog.
If this was coming from a player I’d like it much better.

folks, we were not being honest with ourselves coming in to this season. We lost a lot of talent but more importantly a HUGE amount of leadership from last season. I have to admit I deluded myself into thinking Thompson could be better than Sam was..hah

Maybe some of the younger guys could grow into being leaders. But I don’t see the older guys stepping up. Guess they are checked out.

Good for Bo and whichever player leaked this needs to be gone.

I would rather break it all down and start over with this staff then stay with players who do stuff like that. We are in for a long couple of years but if they can truly make a culture shift long term it will be for the better. Being totally frank, these players would go 0-9 in the SEC maybe 1-8 in years Vanderbilt is on the schedule but even that is a question and this staff knows that and is trying to get them to realize it too.

Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser. Can’t remember who I first heard say that but it’s still true and like so many on here have already said, I too remember shedding tears after games lost where I had made an error, or missed the receiver for big play. HS is tough for lots of reasons and life’s lessons are tough at any age.

I think this is exactly what I needed to see and hear ... someone cares deeply about this team besides me and you ...

re-news my faith in this process and i stand behind this staff 100% ...

although the leaked recording is a breach of trust, I for one am glad it got leaked ... our fan base will overwhelmingly approve of the a$$ chewing ...

I was saying the same thing in my living room during the game ... I just didn't record my A$$ chewing of the team lol

:hookem::hookem::hookem:

Couldn't agree more with what he did and said, and anyone on staff or in the administration who thinks he was out of line should be fired. On top of that, every single player who caused him to go off by doing whatever it was they were doing (I can only imagine) at the time should be kicked off the team immediately along with whomever filmed and released the rant.

When I was playing in high school in the mid 80s our head coach, whom we loved, was more stoic and wasn't the guy who would go off like that, but had assistants that would and did with his approval. I'll never forget on the bus ride back from Brownsville to San Antonio, after losing to a team we had no business losing to, the OL coach yelled for almost every mile. Being called a bunch of "soft tits" sticks in my memory the most. There was never a peep on the bus after a loss.

Thank you Coach Davis, and please, keep it coming until you don't need to.

So, I as usual will be contrarian—the laughers are the problem that needs to be gone, the coach and his attitude are the solution, but the one who posted this isn’t necessarily a problem.

it could be an outcry from someone who feels like we do, wanting to publicize “this is what we are dealing with” (some of the players), not “this is what we are dealing with,” (mean coaches).
It still should not have been leaked, but I’m not sure the motivation was to make Coach Davis look bad, but maybe to make him look good, which in fact it does.

Jr. High? High School? Ha, what a bunch of los....oops.

Hell, I had little league coaches telling us at 9 or 0 years of age we were the biggest bunch of panty waists and wussies they had ever seen. Little league.

As far as Ehlinger. Some will still lack reading comprehension here, as usual, and my stance on Sam has been clear: Great Longhorn, embodiment of the Longhorn Spirit, great person. But, if he was such a great leader, the players would have followed him last year at the end of ball games and not the ******* "Professor".

soft tits

LOL - love it. I am going to start using that.

I had a swim coach in HS who used such colorful language. It made it really hard not to laugh as he was cussing you out.

He pulled me out of the pool one day, yelled at me to get off his pool deck, and called me a "wet fart". I couldn't help but laugh.
It not go well for me from there.

On first thoughts, many see the video coming out as a negative.

But I think this could be what Texas needs, to show recruits and fans - at least one coach gets it and gives a ____. A coach that will put his foot in the ground and say - no more! A coach with rings who knows what it takes to win.

I agree there should've been some players to do this. I hope this stirred some of the character guys to step up, be more vocal, and lead without hesitating.

Long road ahead, but this could be the start of something good.

In the eighth grade, we lost a football game and the coach dressed us down on the bus ride home because we were talking to one another. He said players did not have a right to talk to each other after a loss. Then, that summer, the coach announced that all the freshmen football players would have to get buzz cuts. Those two events led me to decide that, much as I enjoyed "playing" football, it was not for me, so I kept my hair and became a lifelong fan rather than a participant. No loss to the sport because I would have never been very good even if I had cut my hair and remained mute after every loss. ;)

This reminds me of when Jimmie Johnson came in as the head coach of the Cowboys way back when. He didn't like what he was seeing in terms of effort and concentration so he picked a guy that was particularly lacking and sent him packing (can't remember the player's name but he was a significant talent). Fired his butt. This put the fear of job safety into the remaining players as they understood that "if coach will fire that guy then he is willing to do the same to me". They feared coach Johnson. These players need to have appropriate fear - it has an outstanding effect on concentration and effort.

Your post reminded me of Seargent Hartman..
(Wish we could bring him in for a day or two)

Agree Hal - I've always said when it comes to parents, teachers, managers and coaches you can have a wonderful relationship but there needs to be a dose of healthy fear. Insert "respect" instead of "fear" if you like, however the result should be the same.
