Great day for the U.S. of A. It was a long hunt, but Osama was eventually found by following couriers to the compound which featured 12 foot thick walls. Bin Laden was shot through the left eye, the body taken and is now fish food. This was yesterday afternoon.
I assume sufficient documentation was made to satisfy those who will claim this was filmed in a TV studio, the birthers, the truthers, the Trumpers, whatever, although I'm sure all those types will deny it ever happened for the next hundred years.
The helicopters left Afganistan, made it into Pakistan without detection, but one chopper crashed on landing (hit by ground fire?) and the team blew it up prior to leaving. The explosion was noticed by Pakistan which scrambled its fighter jets. At that time the U.S. notified Pakistan which did not attack the chopper leaving the area with the crew and Bin Laden's body.
Nothing happened last week, although a series of secret meetings took place over the last five weeks with President Obama, who gave the go-ahead.
I don't know how much this death will harm the terrorist movement, but it is certainly an important symbolic victory.
I was proud to read the bio of the JSOC commander, a UT grad! Wow, what a career. The wikipedia list of his commendations and service ribbons is impressive to say the least.
